In short

Gamgol Yeontanjip Bangbae is a charcoal-grill Korean BBQ restaurant a 1-minute walk from Naebang Station Exit 5 in Seocho, Seoul, close to Bangbae Station. One portion of juljuli teukmoksal (premium pork skirt) costs 15,900 won, served here with the "world's first" napjak bibim-myeon (flat mixed noodles) at 6,900 won and the 1-second Gamgol-ssaengssomaek soju-beer mix at 3,900 won, and the chewy bite of the pork skirt is what stands out most. Because meat is sold by the single portion, Gamgol Yeontanjip Bangbae is an easy place to taste and compare several cuts in one sitting.

I heard Gamgol Yeontanjip finally opened a branch in Bangbae, so I went straight over. It's a brand I'd been noticing a lot lately, so I was curious — and once inside, my first impression was clear: rather than the neatly polished style of a modern BBQ place, the space kept the feel of an old-school charcoal grill joint. The table spacing and interior were arranged so it didn't feel cramped, so it kept that old-fashioned vibe while still being quite comfortable to eat in.

Exterior and entrance of Gamgol Yeontanjip Bangbae

What I liked most is that, among the Korean BBQ restaurants near Naebang Station, this is one where you can order meat one portion at a time. That makes it easy to try a little of several menu items, and the lineup is pretty broad — lunch has its own charcoal-grilled pork bulgogi set, while dinner covers everything from charcoal-grilled meats to hagfish, chicken feet, tripe and side dishes. On this visit, we started with the juljuli teukmoksal (premium pork skirt) and ordered the 1-second Gamgol-ssaengssomaek and the world's first flat mixed noodles alongside it.

Where is Gamgol Yeontanjip Bangbae, and what is the restaurant like?

Gamgol Yeontanjip Bangbae is located at 1F, Unit 102, 21 Seochodae-ro 23-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, and according to the store's own signage, it's a 1-minute walk from Naebang Station Exit 5. It's a convenient spot for a dinner plan in Bangbae-dong or for grabbing meat and drinks after work. Parking is available right in front of the store, and if it's full, they direct you to the Bangbae Open Culture Center public parking lot — worth noting if you're driving.

Interior of Gamgol Yeontanjip Bangbae with old-school charcoal grill vibe

The interior keeps that distinctive old-school charcoal-grill-restaurant feel. That said, it's not overly cluttered or worn — the tables and space itself were tidy, so it was comfortable to sit and eat. Looking at the menu, there's plenty geared toward drinking rather than just a meal, so it also seems well suited to a dinner get-together or a gathering of several people.

Menu prices and lunch special hours at Gamgol Yeontanjip Bangbae

Gamgol Yeontanjip isn't a place with just a few types of meat — the range covers meals and drinking snacks too. Gochujang charcoal bulgogi is ₩14,900, charcoal rock-salt pork belly and juljuli teukmoksal are ₩15,900 each, and the seolhwa kkodeulsal, sold in a limited daily quantity, is ₩17,900. Odolgalbi is ₩14,900, seasoned hagfish and charcoal-grilled chicken feet are ₩13,900 each, and honeycomb tripe is ₩12,900 — prices that make it easy to mix and match several items without much of a burden.

Lunch runs a bit differently. From 11:30 to 14:00, there's no regular meat menu — only the lunch special, the charcoal-grilled pork bulgogi set, for ₩9,900. It comes with pork bulgogi, lettuce wraps, daily side dishes, and one sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) per table. 14:00 to 16:30 is a break, and dinner service runs 16:30 to 22:30, so if you're going for the grilled meat, plan your visit around the afternoon or evening hours.

First order: juljuli teukmoksal (premium pork skirt), 15,900 won

One portion of ordered juljuli teukmoksal
Juljuli teukmoksal on the charcoal grill

The first thing we ordered was the juljuli teukmoksal at ₩15,900. Gamgol Yeontanjip doesn't make you order a minimum of several portions of one meat — you can pick just one portion at a time, so we didn't have to over-order from the start. With such a huge menu, it was easy to try the teukmoksal first and add other meats later if we wanted more.

Teukmoksal grilling over charcoal with side dishes

Once I actually tasted it, what I liked most was the chewy texture of the teukmoksal. Rather than being simply soft, it had a texture that held up when chewed, so it was nice to eat slowly, and grilling it over charcoal definitely made the meat-eating itself more fun. Since we'd also ordered sides and drinks, it worked well to alternate between other dishes rather than eating just teukmoksal the whole time.

Flat mixed noodles (napjak bibim-myeon) with the pork skirt, 6,900 won

Ordering meat alone felt incomplete, so I was quite curious about the side dishes — and the first thing that caught my eye was the world's first flat mixed noodles (napjak bibim-myeon) at ₩6,900. Rather than being introduced as a noodle dish eaten on its own like a typical bibim-guksu, it's presented as something to wrap and eat together with the meat, so we ordered it alongside the teukmoksal. The name itself is unusual enough that it's worth trying at least once if you're having meat at Gamgol Yeontanjip.

A bowl of the world's first flat mixed noodles

Eating the flat noodles plain and then combining them with the teukmoksal gave a noticeably different texture from the meat alone. Rather than adding the noodles after eating a fair amount of meat, ordering them together from the start and alternating bites suited my taste better. If you're planning to order several kinds of meat one portion at a time, it also works well as a side to slot in between.

1-second Gamgol-ssaengssomaek, 3,900 won: what to drink with the grill

The drink we ordered with the meat was the 1-second Gamgol-ssaengssomaek at ₩3,900. As the name suggests, it's made so you can drink somaek (soju-beer mix) right away, without needing to mix the soju-to-beer ratio yourself. If you're the type who craves beer or somaek while eating charcoal-grilled meat, it's a nice option to start with a glass as soon as you order.

A glass of 1-second Gamgol-ssaengssomaek

Looking further at the menu, there's quite a lot of drinking snacks besides meat available in the evening — seasoned hagfish, charcoal-grilled chicken feet, honeycomb tripe, grilled capelin roe, and charcoal-grilled dried filefish are all there, so for anyone visiting this Korean BBQ restaurant near Naebang Station and wanting to stay put for a long session instead of moving on to a second spot, there seem to be plenty of choices. You could add ssaengssomaek to teukmoksal and flat mixed noodles like we did, or order mostly snacks to match a drinking session rather than a proper meal.

Rock-salt pork belly to charcoal fried rice: what else to order here

Menu listing seolhwa kkodeulsal, odolgalbi and other meats

I was quite curious about the other meat options too. There's charcoal rock-salt pork belly at ₩15,900 and gochujang charcoal bulgogi at ₩14,900, plus the limited-quantity seolhwa kkodeulsal. Add odolgalbi to the mix, and if you're visiting with a group, ordering one portion each of several kinds to compare seemed like a good approach rather than ordering a lot of just one item. Most of the meats are priced in the ₩10,000s range too, which made it easy to add more when we wanted.

Meal menu board including diced charcoal fried rice

The meal menu includes diced charcoal fried rice for ₩6,900, yeolmu kimchi noodles for ₩6,900, hangover sundubu-jjigae for ₩6,900, doenjang-jjigae for ₩6,900, and steamed egg with shrimp for ₩5,900. You can finish off the meat with fried rice or noodles, or place a stew or steamed egg in the middle to share — the lineup felt generous either way. This time we went with the juljuli teukmoksal, flat mixed noodles, and ssaengssomaek, but next time I'd like to try the rock-salt pork belly or the limited-edition kkodeulsal too.

Evening table with teukmoksal, flat mixed noodles and ssaengssomaek

The new Gamgol Yeontanjip Bangbae branch kept the feel of an old-school charcoal grill house while still being comfortable inside, and being able to order meat one portion at a time made it easy to pick and try several dishes. Lunch brings a ₩9,900 pork bulgogi set, while dinner shifts to a completely different lineup, from teukmoksal and pork belly to hagfish, chicken feet, and sides — meaning a completely different meal depending on the time of day. In particular, the chewy texture of the juljuli teukmoksal, paired with the flat mixed noodles and ssaengssomaek, made for a Bangbae BBQ spot that worked perfectly as both a meal and a drinking session.
