I was craving pork cutlet today, so I went to Onjeong Gyeongyang Sikdang in Yongsan 🍽️ If you love that crispy Western-style (gyeongyangsik) cutlet piled with plenty of sauce, this place is worth a look! They also serve udon and cold soba, and I heard there's a self-serve bar where you can help yourself to rice and side dishes, so I went to see for myself. I'll walk you through the exterior, the interior, the menu and what I actually ate :)

Is the exterior easy to find?

The restaurant is on the ground floor of the building, so it was fairly easy to find.

You can check the menu and prices at the entrance, and the clean exterior looked like a good place to come for pork cutlet.
Inside the restaurant and the rice and side dish self-serve bar

The interior has a relaxed atmosphere for eating comfortably, and it suits both solo diners and groups who just want a proper meal.

On one side of the restaurant there's a self-serve bar where you can help yourself to water, rice and side dishes. Being able to get extra rice and sides is handy if you want a hearty meal.
How is the Onjeong menu organized?

You can choose by taste, from the classic Western-style pork cutlet to spicy cutlet, cheddar cheese cutlet and curry cutlet. There's something for fans of the familiar original as well as for anyone who prefers it spicy or with cheese.
Besides cutlets, there are fried tofu and fish cake udon (yubu-eomuk udon) and cold soba (buckwheat noodles), which is nice if you want cutlet and noodles together. There are also set menus that include one cutlet, a good choice when you want a slightly bigger meal.
How does the udon and Western-style pork cutlet set (₩14,500) taste?

The udon and Western-style pork cutlet set is ₩14,500 and lets you enjoy both udon and cutlet. Cutlet alone felt like it would leave me wanting something warm and brothy, so I ordered this.

Western-style pork cutlet: crispy coating and classic sauce
The cutlet was fried crispy and topped with sauce, and it looked really appetizing. The nutty flavor of the coating and the classic Western-style sauce went well together, a familiar, filling dish.

Udon: springy noodles and warm broth to cleanse the palate
The udon in the set has that springy noodle texture plus warm broth, and it paired nicely with the cutlet. Taking a sip of the udon broth between bites of cutlet left my mouth feeling clean, so it was easy to alternate between the two.
Getting cutlet and udon in one go meant less hassle choosing separate dishes, and it made a satisfying, filling meal.
