When the weather turns chilly, or whenever I’m craving a clean, refreshing broth, there’s a lunch dish that always comes to mind, right? I heard there was a great minari shabu-shabu spot in Samgakji, Yongsan, where you can enjoy heaps of fragrant minari and tender meat, so I went to check it out. It was Cheongdo Minari Sikdang Samgakji Branch, just perfect for a hearty lunch! 🌿

Once inside, I was welcomed by a dining hall that was much roomier and more comfortable than I expected.

The tables are generously spaced and the interior is neatly kept, making it easy to focus on your meal without worrying about the people around you. It feels cozy yet spacious, so it would work wonderfully for a Samgakji team dinner with coworkers, while also being just right for a relaxed date.

There are also notices on the walls about the benefits of Cheongdo minari, which made for a fun read while waiting for the food.

What Comes with the Minari Shabu-Shabu
A look through the menu reveals plenty of varied, satisfying dishes centered on minari. I ordered the minari shabu-shabu, an especially popular lunch choice, and it lets you enjoy fresh minari, beef, kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), and fried rice all in one go. With such a great spread for the price, it’s no wonder it is popular as a date-course meal too.

Looking closely at the minari shabu-shabu set on the table, everything looked wonderfully fresh. There was a mountain of fragrant minari, plenty of fresh mushrooms, and a plate of appetizing bright-red beef—the whole spread looked perfect.

How Do You Eat Shabu-Shabu?
Each table has a tablet with detailed instructions on how to enjoy the shabu-shabu even more deliciously, so even first-timers can prepare it without difficulty.

First, mix the perilla seed sauce and Cheongdo minari sauce in a 1:1 ratio to make the house sauce, then get ready with the soy sauce and basic side dishes such as onions and white kimchi.

Once the broth starts boiling, add plenty of the piled-high minari and mushrooms. Briefly swish the beautiful beef through the broth, then dip it together with the minari into the house sauce—it is impossible not to be impressed.

Next, cook the chewy kalguksu noodles in the richly flavored broth,

and finish by frying up juk (rice porridge-style fried rice) with colorful vegetables, seaweed flakes, and savory egg. That completes the perfect course. After tasting it, I could absolutely understand why nearby office workers call this one of their go-to lunch spots around Samgakji Station.
If you want a hearty, complete lunch built around fragrant minari and rich broth, visit Cheongdo Minari Sikdang Samgakji Branch. I definitely recommend stopping by if you want shabu-shabu that warms you right through with fragrant minari.
