Paju bingsu café: Tetris-stacked melon snow bingsu, Fruit Forest
In short
Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store is a fruit bingsu (Korean shaved ice) café on Dolgoji-gil near Simhaksan in Paju, Gyeonggi. The writer weighed the fresh mango snow bingsu but chose the 28,000 won melon snow bingsu, finding the neatly stacked melon sweet and fresh, and sturdy enough not to collapse as pieces were pulled out. With free fruit on the side and an open view of Paju Lotte Premium Outlets, Fruit Forest is a bingsu café worth recommending to fruit lovers.

Fruit Forest in Paju: aren't all bingsu shops the same?
Fruit Forest Paju Direct Store (과일의숲 파주직영점) is a fruit bingsu (shaved ice dessert) café I'd often heard called one of the famous bingsu spots in Paju. The amount of fruit, the freshness and the look of the bingsu were all much more satisfying than I expected.
Honestly, before visiting I was thinking, "A bingsu shop is a bingsu shop, how different can it be?" But after going in person, I get why it's famous.
- Hours: daily 10:00–21:00
- Last order: 20:30
- Closed: open every day
- Parking: private lot in front of the shop
What fruit is on display at Fruit Forest?
The first thing I noticed the moment I walked in was the fruit on display. I almost blurted out, "Boss, why is there so much fruit? It really is a fruit forest!" haha

The shelves were packed with all kinds of fruit, and looking at them one by one, they all seemed to be in really good condition.

True to its name as a fruit bingsu specialist, the fruit came in many varieties, and above all the freshness stood out. The fruit in bingsu has to taste good for the whole thing to taste good, so my expectations went up. Besides fruit bingsu, Fruit Forest also sells fresh fruit juice and desserts.

Mango bingsu vs melon bingsu: which did I pick?

My order at Fruit Forest was the melon snow bingsu, ₩28,000. I agonized for ages over the fresh mango snow bingsu or the melon one. Both looked so tempting that it was hard to decide. Today's choice: melon snow bingsu!
Watching other customers eat mango bingsu, I wondered for a moment whether I should have ordered that instead.

Once it arrived, though, I figured I wouldn't regret it 🙂
How does Fruit Forest's melon snow bingsu look and taste?
The melon snow bingsu came with the melon stacked so neatly that I was happy with it from the look to the taste. The moment I got it, I had just one thought: "Boss, how are you so good at Tetris?" haha

The melon was stacked really straight and tidy, each piece fitted into shape, which looked so pretty. With this level of quality I assumed it would take quite a while to make, but it came out faster than I expected, which surprised me.

Even as I took the melon pieces off one by one, the bingsu didn't collapse easily. I started to wonder if they have a special fruit-stacking technique, haha.
The taste was as satisfying as the look. First, the melon was really sweet and fresh. Every bite of the flesh tasted sweet, and it went well with the fine, soft snow ice.
With ice cream added on top, the sweet and cool combination worked nicely. It wasn't just a large amount of fruit; the melon itself was delicious, which made this bingsu even more satisfying.
Fruit Forest even gave us free fruit

The melon bingsu alone was satisfying enough at Fruit Forest, but they also gave us some fruit as a free treat. It might be a small thing, but as a customer it was a nice gesture. The bingsu looked and tasted good, and I got a good impression from these thoughtful touches too.
What's the view like at Fruit Forest? A window seat overlooking Paju Lotte Outlets

Outside the window of Fruit Forest you can see Paju Lotte Premium Outlets. I liked the view as well as the bingsu: the sightline is wide open, so nothing feels stuffy. Eating bingsu while looking out over the scenery far into the distance felt relaxing.

The view outside and the indoor plants blend together, so the space suits the café's name, "Fruit Forest." In a season like now, with a cool breeze, it would also be nice to step out for some fresh air with a cold bingsu. On a nice day I'd like to try the outdoor terrace too.

The location is also decent for a dessert stop after shopping at Paju Lotte Outlets or eating a meal near Simhaksan.
Final verdict on Paju Fruit Forest's melon bingsu
What I liked most about Fruit Forest's melon snow bingsu was the freshness of the fruit and its sweet taste. Before visiting I wondered how different a famous bingsu shop could really be, but after trying it myself I changed my mind.
The generous look of the melon piled on top was impressive, and the combination of soft snow bingsu and ice cream was good too. The carefully stacked fruit, the quicker-than-expected service and the thoughtful touches made it a memorable place. Anyone who loves fruit should give it a visit.
Next time I'd like to try the fresh mango snow bingsu and compare the two.🙂
