Apgujeong bakery café: S vs. D loaf taste test at home, Option Black
In short
Apgujeong Saengsikppang Option Black is a bakery café near Apgujeong Station Exit 3 in Gangnam, Seoul. It specialises in saengsikppang (soft, fresh white loaves) made with a house recipe that uses no water, and also sells homemade jam and specialty coffee. The writer took home one whole S loaf and one whole D loaf, plus a single slice of each, and compared them: the D loaf is buttery, the S loaf is softer and chewier, and both were satisfying. Today's story is about my visit to Apgujeong Saengsikppang Option Black (압구정생식빵옵션블랙), a loaf-bread café near Apgujeong Station. They accept the high-oil-price relief subsidy, too.

Apgujeong Saengsikppang Option Black is at 51 Apgujeong-ro 34-gil, Quantum Building, Unit 101, 1st floor, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, 322m from Apgujeong Station Exit 3. Premium, premium,真 premium kind of place.

This is the place for high-end saengsikppang (raw-dough loaf bread) made from their own recipe without a single drop of water, plus homemade jam and really good specialty coffee.

What is the atmosphere like at Option Black?
The inside is very spacious and tidy. The tables are spaced far apart, so it feels private. The modern interior is clean, and the friendly staff make it a place famous for kindness too.

Can you toast the bread yourself at Option Black?
If you eat bread there, they bring a toaster to your table so you can toast it yourself. They also have a variety of butters and jams, so you can eat it however you like.
In the afternoon, lots of people were enjoying coffee and bread in small groups. There was even a mom with her child, and it's something you can feel at ease giving a kid. Toasting it yourself is fun, so it's perfect for a date. Self-toasted bread has a magic charm.

I ordered a whole S loaf, a whole D loaf, and one single slice of each. Wow, whoever makes this bread has serious experience. Thumbs up.
Plenty of customers eat in, but plenty take out too. For a morning meal, one slice of bread and a cup of Americano is all you need.

They have specialty coffee here too. Next time I'll come when I have free time and sit down for a cup. On a rainy day, the scent of coffee drifting around your nose, you know that feeling.

S loaf vs. D loaf: how do they taste different?
Off I went home with my top-quality loaves!!

The single slices are ₩2,000 each and are great for a taste test. Of the two, the S loaf and D loaf, just pick whichever suits you. And what if both are delicious? Haha.

D loaf: the buttery one
The D loaf is exactly as buttery as it sounds. It's delicious even with nothing spread on it.

S loaf: softer and chewier
The S loaf is a bit softer. They say it's made without a single drop of water... it's chewy and so soft, thumbs up. Delicious food has zero calories. And it's an open secret that it's even better with jam and butter.

Is Apgujeong Saengsikppang Option Black worth another visit?
I recommend buying top-quality saengsikppang at Apgujeong Saengsikppang Option Black, a loaf-bread café near Apgujeong Station. It's a specialist in soft, butter-rich loaves, so you won't regret it. It's tasty and friendly, so a return visit is 100% on the cards. Have a great day today! ^^
