Our first morning in Jeju started with an early flight, so we decided to eat a hearty breakfast as soon as we landed. But not many restaurants were open that early — and then I found a grilled fish spot near Jeju Airport!! Naneun Jigeum Saengseoni Meokgo Sipda Yongdam Airport Branch opens at 9:30am and is close to the airport, so it was perfect for our first-day route. Plus I got the golden-brown grilled fish I was craving, and tilefish on top~~♡ Let me introduce our first meal in Jeju, paired with a hot soft tofu stew.

Where to park near Jeju Airport: Top Mart across the street and the restaurant lot

Naneun Jigeum Yongdam Airport Branch is at 168 Yongmun-ro, 1st floor, Jeju-si, Jeju, South Korea, a perfectly short drive from Jeju Airport. We parked at the Top Mart across the street near the barrier gate.

Looking at the exterior, there was also a dedicated parking lot on the left side. This place is honest right from its name.

The menu at Naneun Jigeum, and why it suits a first or last day in Jeju

Since it's such a short drive from Jeju Airport, it's a great pick for a meal on your first or last day. It also fit our route perfectly since we stopped by after shopping and buying souvenirs near the airport, just like we did.

Inside the Yongdam Airport branch: tidy dining room with baby chairs

When you think of a grilled fish restaurant, you might picture a smoky, slightly chaotic place, but this one felt tidy overall, and baby chairs were ready too, so it looked comfortable for visiting with kids.

Above all, you could feel the owner's thoughtfulness in the little details, and the owner was really kind.

You could see the fish right at the display case. As soon as guests come in, the fish gets grilled up golden-brown right away.

We sat down in this clean, tidy spot too. We ordered the Big Son's Set for two, ₩36,000. On top of that, we added ₩2,000 to swap the flounder for tilefish. Since we came all the way to Jeju, we had to try tilefish. In the end, it was a good choice.

They grill it right in front of you, and watching the fish skin turn golden brown built up my anticipation. At home, grilling fish just once means dealing with the smell and the cleanup afterward, so we don't get to do it often — but being able to taste several kinds at once like this is the charm of a dedicated grilled fish restaurant.

Ta-da~ It was overwhelming just from the visuals. The plate was packed so full of fish it was satisfying just to look at. On top of that, side dishes and stew were served together, making it exactly my favorite style of Korean meal spread — perfect.

How the soft tofu stew tastes with the grilled fish

After eating just fish for a while, you start craving hot broth too, and the soft tofu stew at Naneun Jigeum Yongdam Airport Branch had soft, fluffy tofu and egg in it, so it was mild — a bite of grilled fish followed by a spoonful of soft tofu stew was such a great combo.

Each fish had a slightly different texture and savoriness, which made trying them one by one fun. And they were so big that even though it was a set for two, I felt it could probably feed three to four people.

It was plenty tasty on its own, but I also tried dipping it in the two sauces provided. Adding sauce to the clean fish flesh brought out a whole different flavor.

The skin side was grilled nicely golden-brown and savory, while the flesh inside was moist. Grilled fish can easily turn dry if it's overcooked, but here the moistness of the flesh really stood out.

When you gently pull it apart with chopsticks, big chunks of white flesh fall away, and you just can't pass that up. Placing a piece on top of warm rice and eating it together fills you with true happiness. There was no fishy smell either, so our fish-loving family enjoyed it without any hesitation. Preparing several kinds of fish to grill at home like this isn't easy, so I thought this would be a great place to visit when you're craving a warm, home-cooked-style meal during a Jeju trip.

After the meal, there were xylitol mints ready to take, too. You could feel the thoughtfulness for guests even in small details like this. With baby chairs and a menu that's easy for all ages to enjoy, this seems like a great spot for a Jeju trip with parents or a family meal with kids.
