Uijeongbu dog-walk café with two Basque cheesecakes: Forerest

Lately I've been trying to find cafés I can go to with my dog Pudungi, and it's surprisingly hard — plenty of pretty places, but not so many where you can actually relax with a dog haha ㅜㅜ. This time we headed slightly out of the city center to Forerest, a large Uijeongbu café with a natural atmosphere, and brought Pudungi along. 🌳

The café itself was great, but the greenery spread out around the building was the real bonus — dessert inside, then a light walk with the dog outside. Hahaha, it had such a different, relaxed vibe compared to a café in the middle of downtown. I loved that!

Forerest: a large Uijeongbu café surrounded by trees

Forerest is a large café on Nogyang-ro in Uijeongbu, and the first thing I liked when we arrived was the surrounding atmosphere. Being a bit away from the busy downtown area, it felt much quieter and more relaxed haha.

It was especially good for visiting with a dog like Pudungi who loves walks. There's space around the café building where you can stroll slowly, so instead of just drinking coffee and heading straight back, we got to spend time walking with Pudungi too!!!

On a nice day, just sitting at the café feels like a little trip into nature, so it'd suit a Uijeongbu date course or anyone looking for somewhere to get a bit of fresh air.

The best part of this Forerest visit was definitely being able to bring Pudungi along. 🐾😊 When you're out and about with a dog, the first thing you check about a café is usually whether it's dog-friendly, before taste or atmosphere even come up. At Forerest we got to enjoy coffee and dessert with Pudungi and take a walk around the grounds too, which was really satisfying ><!!!

It's nice to walk around the area once before or after the café, so the dog doesn't feel cooped up, and I got to spend a more relaxed time too. If you're looking for a Uijeongbu café you can visit with your dog, this one's worth checking out!

Chocolate Basque cheesecake at Forerest

For dessert we tried two things: chocolate Basque cheesecake and plain Basque cheesecake.

The chocolate Basque cheesecake had a rich chocolate flavor along with the dense texture of the cheese, and the combo worked better than I expected. I'd recommend this one for anyone who prefers a heavy, rich dessert over a light chocolate cake.

Eating it with the iced americano was a great pairing too — the coffee cleanly cut through the richness of the chocolate and cheese.

Plain Basque cheesecake at Forerest

Can't skip the plain Basque cheesecake either… haha.

The outside had that signature Basque cheesecake toasted flavor, while the inside was soft and dense, which went well with coffee. If you prefer the cheese's own savory, rich flavor over chocolate, the plain Basque cheesecake will probably suit your taste more.

Personally I ordered both and ate them alternately, and the flavors were clearly different, which made it more fun. If you're after a good cake in Uijeongbu, try the Basque cheesecake with coffee here.

Iced americano and iced vanilla latte

For drinks we ordered an iced americano and an iced vanilla latte.

The iced americano was, as expected, the cleanest pairing with a rich dessert like the Basque cheesecake. A bite of cake, a sip of cold americano — it felt like it cleared my palate, so I kept reaching for it.

The iced vanilla latte is one to recommend if you like sweet, smooth drinks. Rather than coffee's bitterness, it had a softer, sweeter flavor added, which was nice to sip slowly alongside the dessert.

I enjoyed the time inside Forerest, but what I liked especially was the surroundings 🌬️☁️🤍. Walking slowly around the building with Pudungi, it felt like we'd stepped out of the city for a moment, even though we hadn't gone far at all. In the greener season the scenery is pretty too, good for photos, and nice for clearing your head while walking the dog.

Instead of just eating coffee and cake and getting straight in the car, finishing with a walk around the area with Pudungi made for a much more relaxed café outing.

If you're looking for a large Uijeongbu café, a Uijeongbu café in general, a good cake spot in Uijeongbu, or somewhere with a natural feel to spend time with your dog, I'd recommend Forerest. It'll especially suit people who like a more relaxed, nature-close atmosphere over a downtown café.
