Beef BBQ with Dad in Ansan: 750g aged galbisal and gochuji, Yangsimso
In short
Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch (양심소 안산고잔점) is a charcoal-grilled beef restaurant behind the Praum City building near Jungang Station in Gojan-dong, Ansan. The writer and Dad ordered a 750g platter of 48-hour aged galbisal (boneless beef rib meat) for 73,000 won, half unmarinated and half marinated. The complimentary hanwoo yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and beef brisket doenjang stew filled two people comfortably. It's been a while, so I went out for some really good beef with Dad ♡ We visited Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch (양심소 안산고잔점), a BBQ place near Jungang Station. The cozy atmosphere was perfect for a family meal, and we properly enjoyed a generous platter of juicy, tender aged beef galbisal (short rib meat) :)
Where is Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch, and where do you park?
Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch is at 33 Danggok-ro, Danwon-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi, South Korea, Unit 119 on the 1st floor, behind the Praum City building. It's open daily 11:00-22:30. Park in the Praum City basement level 1 car park and you get 2 hours free.

It's a 5-minute walk from Ansan City Hall and 2 minutes from Kookmin Bank. If you know Ansan, it's right behind the Praum City building, diagonally across the crosswalk from the old New Core Outlet. Lots of spots in Jungangdong don't allow parking, but at Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch you get 2 hours free if you park on basement level 1 of Praum City :)

There are also reasonably priced lunch specials, from a marinated galbisal set to a kkotgalbi (flower-cut short rib) set and yukhoe bibimbap (rice bowl with beef tartare). I hear they're available on weekend lunch too, so keep that in mind.
Atmosphere and seating at Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch
The interior has wood-tone decor, tables divided by partitions, and private rooms for groups. It works for a family meal, a date or a group gathering.

The wood tones and soft lighting make it feel cozy and a little romantic ✨️ It's spacious, and some tables are separated like partitions, so it's great for dates as well as family meals.

Overall it's clean and comfortable, nice for a relaxed meal, and the calm mood makes it a place I'd recommend for a family dinner in Jungangdong :)

There are also plenty of private-room seats for groups, so it suits group gatherings and work dinners in Jungangdong too.
Yangsimso's menu and how the beef is aged
Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch is a charcoal-grilled beef restaurant, and it says it holds a patent in meat aging. By its own description, it pays attention to the quality of the raw meat, honest weights, aging technique and the quality of the charcoal.

They say they work to serve the meat at its best, at reasonable prices, with careful attention to raw meat quality, honest weights, aging technique and charcoal quality.
Complimentary spread: hanwoo yukhoe and brisket doenjang stew
When you order meat at Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch, hanwoo yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and brisket doenjang stew come as standard, along with side dishes. The sides were cabbage salad, pickled scallion strips, pickled scallions, pickled cucumber, young radish kimchi and spicy seasoned pollock.

The side dishes that go well with beef were neatly set out :) From sesame-oil dip to raw garlic, salt, shiitake wasabi, barley ssamjang (seasoned dipping paste), gochuji (pickled chili leaves) and a refreshing bean sprout soup, you could feel the care put into every side and sauce.

They even serve hanwoo yukhoe as a free extra ✨️

The meat was melt-in-your-mouth quality, and it had a sweet, subtle savory depth. Really good!

On top of that, a brisket doenjang stew is included. The broth was rich yet clean, and with plenty of ingredients it was hearty enough to be a meal on its own :)
750g of 48-hour aged galbisal, half and half: enough for two?
Dad and I ordered the 750g platter of 48-hour aged galbisal (₩73,000) and one bowl of rice (₩1,000). It came as two plates, half raw beef galbisal and half marinated, and it was a generous amount that left the two of us comfortably full.
- 750g platter of 48-hour aged galbisal, ₩73,000 (half raw beef galbisal, half marinated)
- 1 bowl of steamed rice, ₩1,000

You can tell at a glance that the beef is good quality!

It comes as two plates, and the portion is really big, so Dad and I ate until we were nicely full :)
Unmarinated galbisal: charcoal aroma and juiciness

They grilled the raw galbisal for us first. Maybe it's the good charcoal, but a subtle smoky aroma was added and the meat's own juiciness and flavor felt even richer.

✅️ If you join the Naver receipt review event, you also get sausages, which made the meal even more varied.

It had a glossy shine and was full of juice, so good. The meat itself was thick and big, with a satisfying chew and a properly springy texture ♥ Perhaps because it's aged 48 hours to be extra tender, the nutty, clean flavor was definitely different.

The meat is tasty on its own, so just a dab of salt or a dip in the sesame-oil sauce is a perfect match :)

You can help yourself to any side dishes you need at the self-serve bar, and it was kept really clean too!
Marinated galbisal: a marinade that isn't too sweet

After enjoying the nutty, clean raw galbisal, they grilled the marinated galbisal next :)

It has a different charm from the raw one and was really good, so I recommend ordering half and half like this! The sweet, subtle savory depth of the marinade clung to every bite, and it wasn't overly sweet, which made it a pleasure to eat.

My number one pick is putting a little of the sharp gochuji (pickled chili leaves) on top. It brings out the meat's natural flavor even more, and the combo was really delicious.

Thoughtfully, they also have coffee, candy, dental floss and mouthwash ready ☕️
