I was looking for a dinner spot near Bangi Station and ended up at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch (당산오돌 방이점). I figured I'd just have lamb ribs, but then the snowflake galbi on the menu caught my curiosity, so I ordered both. Lamb ribs and snowflake galbi: I ordered both

The menu at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch has quite a few choices, like lamb ribs, snowflake galbi, kkodeulsal (chewy pork neck-area cut) and odol galbi. I'd only planned on lamb ribs at first, but after reading the description of the snowflake galbi, I couldn't just skip it.

So that day I ordered lamb ribs and snowflake galbi. Lamb and beef in one go seemed like maybe a bit much, but after eating, I was glad I chose that way.

The basic side dishes go well with the meat

The basic side dishes at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch were radish salad (musaengchae), sliced onion, ssam vegetables, salt and wasabi, just the things that go well with meat. They cut through the richness, so my chopsticks kept going back to them while I ate.

The salt and wasabi went especially well with the snowflake galbi, while the lamb ribs made me reach for the cumin seasoning (zira).

Does the lamb ribs have any gamey smell?

I ate the lamb ribs at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch without any worry about gamey smell. I grilled the lamb first, and as it cooked, the charcoal aroma rose up, and it was already the kind of smell that makes you hungry.

If lamb ribs has any gamey smell, you notice it from the very first bite, right? Here there was almost none of that, and the nutty, savory flavor built the more I chewed.

With a light dip in the cumin seasoning, the lamb's characteristic flavor came out even more, and it was crisp and savory outside and juicy inside.

I came here while searching for a BBQ restaurant near Bangi Station, and the lamb ribs were good enough that I'd order them again next time.

Snowflake galbi is enough with just salt

The snowflake galbi at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch felt completely different from the lamb ribs. If the lamb is on the flavorful side, the snowflake galbi was closer to tender and nutty.

Even with just a light dip in salt, the flavor came through cleanly, so you don't need to pile on lots of extras.

After one bite I thought, "This would be great with rice too." If you like marbled beef, I think the snowflake galbi will suit you better.

Finishing with doenjang jjigae

It would have been a shame not to order doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) at the end at Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch. Partway through the meat, I started craving something hot and soupy. So I ordered the doenjang jjigae, and it turned out to be a pretty good way to finish.

It wasn't aggressively strong; it was a rich, savory flavor that goes well with rice, and it felt like it reset my mouth after the meat.

If you're after a Korean meal near Bangi Station, I think adding the doenjang jjigae instead of stopping at the meat makes it feel more like a full meal.

Is Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch worth going back to?

On the way out, we talked about what to eat next time. With so many meat options, Dangsan Odol Bangi Branch felt like a place where one visit isn't quite enough. I liked the lamb ribs and snowflake galbi combo that day, and with the doenjang jjigae at the end, I felt I'd eaten well and was properly full.

If you want something a little different from ordinary BBQ near Bangi Station, it's worth a visit. It looked fine for a family meal, a get-together with friends or a casual company dinner, and next time I'd keep the lamb ribs and add one more different dish.
