I usually end up taking care of everything else in the morning and skipping a proper meal for myself. But drinking just coffee on an empty stomach felt like too much, so I wanted something simple I could mix up quickly. This time I tried Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae Mugwort Soy Milk, a soy milk powder you stir into water.

What comes in the 500g bag of Garu Seonsaeng Mugwort Soy Milk
The product comes in a 500g zipper bag. Instead of individually wrapped portions, you scoop out as much as you need and reseal the bag afterward, which I found convenient.
Looking at the front of the package, it contains 63.3% domestic soybeans and 8% domestic mugwort. I'm generally a fan of mugwort, so that got me even more excited. I also noticed it uses the whole soybean — skin and pulp included. The way to drink it is really simple.

How to mix it: 2 scoops in 180ml of water
You use the scoop included with the product to portion out the powder into a cup. The recommended amount is 2 scoops, about 30g, in 180ml of water. Since this was my first time trying it, I measured out exactly what was suggested.

At first, drinking soy milk mixed from powder felt a bit unfamiliar, but once I actually tried it, scooping the powder and adding water was really convenient. And unlike packaged soy milk that comes at a fixed concentration, being able to scoop as much as I wanted and adjust to my taste was a plus.

How to store mugwort soy milk powder
Since it's a powder, storage is simple: keep it sealed in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Close the opening tightly after each use, and it's a good idea to use a dry scoop so moisture doesn't get in. What I was most curious about, though, was the taste.

Is the mugwort flavor strong? Taste review
Mugwort products can be hit or miss when the scent is too strong, but when I tried Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae Mugwort Soy Milk, it wasn't overpoweringly intense — more like the nutty flavor of soybeans blending together with the mugwort aroma. Since I prefer plain, nutty flavors over overly sweet drinks, it suited my taste well.

The basic way is to mix it with water, but on days I want something a bit smoother and richer, mixing it with milk to enjoy like a mugwort latte would work too. It was surprising that even mixed just with water, it tasted exactly like a familiar mugwort latte.

It's great to drink like regular soy milk, but I think it would also pair well stirred into yogurt. Next time I might introduce a recipe using this raw soy milk powder, haha. I also took a look at the nutrition info.

134kcal and 7.2g protein in a 30g serving
Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae Mugwort Soy Milk contains 134kcal and 7.2g of protein per 30g serving. It's good to pair with breakfast or have as a snack when you're a bit hungry in the afternoon. I don't really use it as a full meal replacement — I have a cup in the morning as a simple addition, or when I want something other than coffee.
Checking the ingredients, it's made with domestic soybeans and domestic mugwort, with sun-dried salt and unrefined raw sugar added. The ingredient list isn't complicated, so it was easy to check, and knowing the soybeans and mugwort were grown on our own soil made it feel trustworthy.
Where to buy Garu Seonsaeng Mugwort Soy Milk
If you'd rather make a fresh cup when you need it instead of stockpiling soy milk cartons in the fridge, this is worth checking out. Besides mugwort, the matcha and black soybean versions are also sold individually at Olive Better or Olive Young. If you're trying it for the first time, buying a single pack to test the flavor before committing might be a good idea.

On busy mornings or in the afternoon when I want something other than coffee, I plan to keep reaching for a cup of Garuseonsaeng Seoritae Seoritae Mugwort Soy Milk.
