Seoul coffee shop for people who can't drink coffee: Central Site
In short
Central Site Yeonnam is a three-story brewing (hand-drip) coffee café on Yeonhui-ro in Mapo, Seoul. A drinker who dislikes acidity was steered to the Guatemala at 8,000 won and, for anyone put off by bitterness, the Colombia Cauca at 12,000 won, served alongside tiramisu at 8,500 won — and even someone who always asks for weak coffee emptied both cups. Most impressive at Central Site Yeonnam: despite a low caffeine tolerance, there was no racing-heart feeling at all.

What kind of coffee shop is Central Site Yeonnam?
Central Site Yeonnam is a brewing (hand-drip) coffee café at 29-1 Yeonhui-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. I was looking around for a Yeonnam-dong café or Hongdae café today and heard there was a famous brewing coffee spot, so I went to check it out. A brewing coffee place good enough to win over even someone who can't usually drink coffee.

I expected a small café since it's known for brewing coffee, but the space looked huge, both in width and ceiling height.

Central Site Yeonnam floor by floor: seating on 1F, 2F and 3F
On the first floor of Central Site Yeonnam there's a hand-drip brewing station and a cold brew machine. You see it right away as you walk in.

Watching the cold brew drip made me want to buy some to take home.

They also sell beans, and there's a small table space in the back.

These are the second and third floors in order. Clean vibe, and a bar table by the window looking outside made it seem like a fine spot to come alone.

There's a restroom inside, and lemon water was set out, which made the whole place feel that much more comfortable and cozy!

Which bean to order if you dislike acidity or bitterness
Here's the menu at Central Site Yeonnam, though it was slightly different from the menu shown on Naver Map. If you don't like acidity, go with the Guatemala at 8,000 won (hazelnut, butterscotch, milk chocolate); if you don't like acidity or coffee's bitterness, go with the Colombia Cauca at 12,000 won (rose, peach syrup, elderflower, cherry, mangosteen, violet).
I ordered both on their recommendation. Personally, the Colombia Cauca had every scent and flavor I love, all in one cup.

Takeout gets you -1,000 won, and the brewing coffee prices ranged widely from 8,000 to 24,000 won. A basic americano is 5,000 won, café latte 5,500 won, and other drinks were around 6,500 won.

The cookies were 2,000 won, cheaper than I expected, so I actually debated whether to get one.

Tiramisu 8,500 won, brownie tiramisu 10,500 won, strawberry cake 9,000 won. The cakes looked incredibly tempting too. Since this is a coffee-focused spot, I ordered the tiramisu to pair with the coffee!

Smelling the beans and watching the hand-drip after ordering
At Central Site Yeonnam, once you order, you move to the side to smell the beans first, then watch the coffee get brewed. They put in finely ground beans, pour a little water for the first pour.
Then they pour water a second time. While you watch, the owner checks which floor you're sitting on, and once the coffee is ready, brings it to your table.

The coffee arrived, and the aroma alone was already excellent.

They also gave me a paper with a detailed explanation of the brewing coffee, which helped me understand what I was drinking even more.

How did the Guatemala and Colombia Cauca actually taste?
If you like a bit of bitterness and aroma in your coffee, I'd highly recommend this. Not the bad kind of bitterness from a poorly brewed bean, but a refined bitterness that was easy to drink.
I couldn't tell it was coffee. The subtle floral/fruity aroma got me right away, and when I drank it there was zero coffee bitterness. For someone like me who couldn't drink coffee because I hated the taste, this was a whole new world. I genuinely want to sing its praises. First time in my life I've finished a coffee down to the last drop.
I always shout "make it weak please" whenever I order coffee, but today I forgot to say that and still enjoyed both brewing coffees fully. The Colombia Cauca especially was delicious enough that I instantly understood why people rave about coffee.
On top of that, caffeine doesn't usually agree with my body — strong coffee usually makes my heart race like crazy — but this time, none of that at all. Truly none. The tiramisu paired beautifully with the coffee too, and alternating a bite of tiramisu with a sip of coffee was the best haha.
If you generally like coffee or brewing coffee, this is a Yeonnam-dong café I'd highly recommend. If you're looking for a Yeonnam-dong café, definitely visit Central Site Yeonnam — it nails both the coffee and the atmosphere!
