Today I want to introduce a brunch café in Millak-dong where you can have breakfast in Gwangalli with your dog: Famous Benny.

Where is Famous Benny in Gwangalli, and where do you park?

Famous Benny sits on the Millak-dong side of Gwangalli beach, a bit further in past Millak Raw Fish Town, tucked into an alley. I liked that it isn't on a busy main road, and the location would be great for a stop after a run along the Gwangalli course.

There's no parking lot of its own, but there are two public lots nearby!

What are the interior and seating like at Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch?

The inside has two floors, and the bright wood-tone interior feels calm yet classy.

The 1st floor is mostly small tables, and the tables, lighting and art are all tasteful, so it's perfect for a solo breakfast in Gwangalli. There's also a sturdy-looking high chair.

Head straight to the back and up the stairs and there's more space on the 2nd floor. It's an unusual layout that also connects to the outside stairs. The 2nd floor has more tables than the 1st, including roomy 4-person tables.

Even though I came early, other guests were already having breakfast. With its early 8am opening, I also saw people there for breakfast on a Gwangalli trip.

Every time I come, I notice how many foreign visitors this Gwangalli brunch café gets.

Famous Benny menu and coffee beans

Famous Benny uses Dukes coffee beans, so you can taste real Australian-style coffee.

You can switch lattes to oat milk! And there's decaf too, which is nice.

What we ordered: decaf long black, blueberry oat matcha, garlic butter egg, bacon egg roll, arugula cheese toast, mango coconut gelato

After you order and find a seat, they bring the drinks and food to you. The drinks came out quickly first.

Decaf long black

My companion ordered the Famous Benny long black and said that compared with the Americano they always drink, the flavor is richer, and even after the ice melts the taste and aroma stay strong for a long time.

They said they'd order the long black instead of an Americano next time too.

Blueberry oat matcha

I can't drink coffee, so I ordered the blueberry oat matcha. Once mixed it turns this mugwort green, but it doesn't taste like that color suggests: it was sweet, with the bitterness of matcha and a strawberry-like flavor blending into a really appealing taste. The oat milk made it nuttier and tastier. It's even better that Millak-dong café Famous Benny has so many options for people who can't drink coffee.

While I was savoring my drink, the food was ready right away. They brought everything up even though we were on the 2nd floor.

What does the arugula cheese toast taste like?

The arugula cheese toast looked incredibly healthy!

Famous Benny's arugula cheese toast is packed with seeds along with the arugula, so there's a lot to chew on. The flavor and texture were both unique, and it's healthy yet tasty enough that I think dieters would fall for it.

Adding lemon brought a freshness that lifted the flavor even more.

The bread was crisp and nutty, and the toppings were crunchy and fresh.

Is the garlic butter egg spicy and salty?

The garlic butter egg had a plating that looked unique at a glance (I ordered without looking at the photo, haha).

Before trying it I expected something spicy, salty and intense, but it wasn't.

It has two big poached eggs, and the sauce holding them was soupy like a broth dish but dense in texture. Unlike the spicy, salty taste I expected, it was yogurt with the aroma of garlic butter.

To me the yogurt flavor was overwhelming, and it was really unique and delicious.

I dunked the bread in generously and even scooped the sauce up with a spoon. It's a hard-to-describe, quietly addictive taste that's also very healthy, and I kept thinking about it after I got home.

Bacon egg roll

Famous Benny's bacon egg roll, said to be Australia's national breakfast, tastes exactly like the one we all know, just a bit more upscale, so I think anyone would like it with no divided opinions.

I think even kids who hate healthy food would like this one. Of course, it was really good to me too, and I like healthy food. The bread was especially soft and moist, and the sauce with just a hint of spice was tasty too. It's big, so it's surprisingly filling.

Mango coconut gelato

The mango coconut gelato tasted overwhelmingly of mango, as if a single drop of coconut had been added. It's gelato but not very dense; the texture was smooth and the taste was a luxurious ice cream full of mango aroma, a perfect refreshing finish!
