Japanese food near PNU, Busan: sashimi feast with Dad, Moshi Moshi

Moshi Moshi PNU Branch is a Japanese sushi restaurant in Jangjeon-dong, Geumjeong, Busan, near the main gate of Pusan National University. The writer drove there with his father and ordered the upgraded sashimi feast at 34,900 won per person, which brought sashimi, sushi, tempura and udon in one meal. Moshi Moshi PNU Branch is not especially cheap, but its sashimi and sushi are both solid, making it a good Jangjeon-dong Japanese restaurant for a meal with parents.

Sarugak20 is a Japanese curry restaurant in a basement right in front of the Jeonpo 1-dong Community Center in Busanjin, Busan. At Sarugak20 the writer ordered the Moru shrimp cream curry and the Sarugak curry topped with a pork cutlet, plus a sweet potato cheese croquette and fried shrimp. Seomyeon beer bar in Busan with a tebasaki & Sapporo set: Ganppa Beer

Ganppa Beer Seomyeon Hyeongje Branch is a Japanese-style standing beer bar, run in collaboration with Sapporo, on the busy streets near Seomyeon Station in Busan. After dinner, the writer stopped in for a second round and ordered the 26,900-won set of 3 pieces of Ganppa signature tebasaki (Japanese fried chicken wings) and 2 Sapporo draft beers; the creamy foam from glasses re-chilled before pouring and the strongly peppery tebasaki were both satisfying. Ganppa Beer Seomyeon is loud and stand-up, so it suits a light beer or two after a full meal better than a quiet conversation.

Seafood pub near Suyeong Station, Busan: three sashimi, three sauces

Sintongyeong Gul Gukbap (신통영굴국밥) is a seafood pub near Suyeong Paldo Market in Suyeong, Busan, within walking distance of Suyeong Station. On an early weekday evening, the small mixed sashimi platter came with olive flounder, doldari (marbled flounder) and milchi (mullet), each best with its own sauce: makjang with the olive flounder, soy sauce with the doldari and chogochujang with the milchi. Despite the oyster-soup name, Sintongyeong Gul Gukbap is worth the trip to Suyeong Station for the sashimi alone.
