A goddess coloring book I chose when I was stressed

I've been feeling really stressed lately. I wondered what might help me unwind, then thought I should buy a coloring book and get coloring. So I bought the SoulGoddess coloring book.

Items included with the coloring book

This is the pamphlet included with it. They run SoulClass, a tarot consultation app with 24-hour chat and phone calls. I tend to use tarot when I'm very stressed or have something on my mind, so I should give it a try when I get bored while coloring in SoulGoddess.

The goddesses' messages in SoulGoddess

Unlike a typical coloring book, SoulGoddess contains messages from goddesses. I liked that it wasn't just about coloring; I could also hear the goddesses' wisdom. It is divided into the celestial realm, natural realm, human realm, and underworld, with detailed sections by continent.

It also explains how to encounter SoulGoddess. The first page was the celestial realm. Drawing back the curtain of darkness, the birth of glittering stars opened the prologue of the universe...

The first page: Mago, Korea's creator goddess

The first page was Mago! Celestial realm – Asia – Korea. Mago is the goddess who created all things. As befits a Korean goddess, she has a beautifully rounded look full of East Asian charm.

I filled in the coloring book with colored pencils my younger sibling gave me.

Coloring the Mago page with colored pencils

I combined different colors to express Korean beauty, an old-fashioned feel, and a luminous, mysterious mood.

Coloring process combining different colors

I laid down a very pale yellow first.

Then I added a touch of green and a clear, fresh feeling. I considered adding purple because I wanted it to look luminous, but I thought that would take away the clean look. I'm still not used to creating color moods. :(

Coloring process with blue tones added

I also softly spread on a little sky blue to express weather that feels made for immortal revelry.

It's not something I'm proud to show off, but; I'm coloring to heal, so I don't want to put too much pressure on myself.

The fun of reading the notes beside the illustrations

When I looked for other Korean goddesses, I found Samsin Halmi (삼신할미). :) She is the goddess who brings life into being. Couples who desperately want a child earnestly hope Samsin Halmi will grant them one.

Here is a goddess from neighboring China: Jiutian Xuannü (구천현녀)! She is a goddess of war and guardian deity of heroes. Coloring in the SoulGoddess Coloring Book is fun because I get to read the explanations beside the pictures. :)

Aphrodite from the Greek and Roman mythology we know so well is in here too!

There are also Ungnyeo (웅녀), another Korean goddess, and Japan's Ame-no-Uzume. A goddess of laughter and entertainment—how delightful. I'm glad I chose a coloring book as a hobby. It's fun that SoulGoddess can be part of meditation or a healing session, rather than simply healing through drawing.

Goddess coloring book pages from around the world

There are coloring pages for 40 goddesses from around the world besides these. Once you finish the whole book, you can hear the stories of wonderful goddesses from all over the world. Beneath each story is a message from the goddess for you, too. :)
