Haeundae Western restaurant with crispy fried enoki risotto: Bueokgan

In short

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is a Western restaurant on the second floor of a building on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan, in front of Hillstate Weve, sharing the space with a bakery and a Chinese restaurant. Visiting with a friend, the writer ordered the abalone cream risotto and the basil margherita and ate at a wood-tone half-moon table with sofa seating, and the crispy fried enoki mushrooms piled on the risotto were the most memorable part. Bueokgan Haeundae Branch works well as a brunch or Western-food stop to pair with a walk or drive around Dalmaji and Mipo.

Where is Bueokgan Haeundae Branch, and what are its hours?

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is a Western restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building at 200 Dalmaji-gil117beon-gil, Haeundae-gu, Busan. It's open daily 11:00-21:00, with a break time from 15:00-16:30, and last order at 20:30.

If you walk up the Dongbaek-cho uphill road, it's the spot people call the old Sansu-tang bathhouse... though honestly only locals would know it by that name (?)

Right in front of Hillstate Weve, there's a building where a bakery, restaurant, and Chinese restaurant all operate under the Bueokgan brand in one space! The #BueokganRestaurant is on the 2nd floor, and you get there by taking the stairs on the right side of the building near Hyunwoo Sanho Mansion. Don't mix it up with the bakery — the bakery is currently closed for an expansion and isn't open right now.

For parking, use the lot next to Bueokgan Bakery or the basement parking behind the building. Public transit means a village bus, but the intervals are long so it's not that convenient. Locals just walk instead of waiting. Well, except during Water Bomb Show season...

Inside Bueokgan Haeundae Branch: two halls, sofa seats and corkage

The dining hall at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch is split into two spaces with a variety of seating types. The space was bigger and more pleasant than I expected.

🍷🍷 We were told corkage is possible too.

The fully booked inner seating at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch

The two spaces feel quite different from each other — the inner section was fully booked or maybe just busy since it was lunchtime, but it was packed.

Wood-tone, green-accented half-moon table sofa seating

If the inner area has a warm yellow vibe, the section near the entrance is calmer, with wood tones and green accents. We ended up eating at a sofa seat with a backrest and a half-moon table — honestly, even better ❔ 🛋️ A little while later, this space filled up too, one seat at a time.

What's on the menu at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch?

Centered on tenderloin steak (200g/400g), the menu is packed with variety: soup, sweet potato fries instead of the usual fries, salad, pasta, pizza, risotto, lasagna, gnocchi, and pilaf!

You can also order a discounted set of two drinks + salad + soup + pizza + pasta (though there's an extra charge depending on the exact combination).

Ordering the abalone cream risotto and basil margherita

Among the many eye-catching options, my friend and I ordered the #AbaloneCreamRisotto and the #BasilMargherita.

Ready to eat 🍽️

Abalone cream risotto topped with fried enoki mushrooms

Abalone cream risotto: the crispy fried enoki mushrooms are the kick

The #AbaloneCreamRisotto came out first, and it was the dish both my friend and I were most curious about 👀 Tired from the heat and hungry, we dug in before the pizza even arrived.

The rich abalone cream had the rice grains still holding a nice bite, and it was just salty enough that it went down easy. And the crispy fried enoki mushrooms on top were the kick 😋

Basil margherita pizza cut into 6 slices

Basil margherita: six light slices with arugula

The #BasilMargherita came as one pizza cut into 6 slices, smaller than a usual regular size, so while it's probably plenty for 2-3 people, since margherita is naturally light rather than heavy, if you're a group of 3 the pizza might end up feeling like a side dish rather than the main. It tasted clean and light 🍕

Oh wait... I was enjoying it the whole time and only just realized the main topping wasn't basil but arugula ❔ ❕ 🤓

Who is Bueokgan Haeundae Branch best for?

Looking for a good-vibe, tasty restaurant in Haeundae, I stumbled onto Bueokgan by chance! If you're searching for a brunch or Western-food spot near Haeundae's Dalmaji area for family, a date, or friends, I'd recommend #BueokganHaeundaeBranch!!

It's also a great spot to pair with a walk or drive around Dalmaji and Mipo before or after eating. Next time I think I'll try Bueokgan Chinese right next door!
