This time I'm introducing a chicken BBQ place in Daemyeong-dong, Daegu: Hyeongnim Dakgui (형님닭구이). The Daemyeong-dong Gyeongdae branch is seriously big and spacious, so it's a great place to visit as a group. If you're looking for a group dinner spot in Daemyeong-dong, keep this one on your radar. Okay, let's get into the full review!
Hours, reservations and parking at Hyeongnim Dakgui Daemyeong-dong Gyeongdae branch
Hyeongnim Dakgui Daemyeong-dong Gyeongdae branch is at 104 Myeongdeok-ro, Nam-gu, Daegu, and it's open every day from 11:30 to 24:00 (last order 23:00). Open every day, which is just great. Also, at lunch you can have a Korean buffet for ₩9,500, so keep that in mind.
You can reserve through Naver Reservation. I booked on Naver ahead of time too! For groups especially, booking on Naver in advance makes things much easier.
For parking, you can use the Gyeongdae parking lot for free. Just tell the staff when you leave and they'll register it! That was a plus too. This area is parking hell, you know!

Atmosphere at Hyeongnim Dakgui: good for a group dinner?
This is the inside of the Daemyeong-dong Gyeongdae branch. The place is incredibly spacious.

We came outside peak hours, so we got to eat in a relaxed way.

The main hall has a big screen, and it's baseball season these evenings, right? So you can enjoy great meat while watching a game. Plenty of reason to come to this Daemyeong-dong chicken BBQ place in Daegu.

What's at the Hyeongnim Dakgui self-bar?
The self-bar here is something else. It's stocked with all kinds of food, like a Korean buffet. Let me show you!
There's soup and lettuce and other leaves for wraps, and even pork cutlets that kids love. And then, ta-da, a whole lineup of side dishes!

The dessert corner has ice cream and coffee. There's an ice machine too, so you can have your coffee iced.

This is the group seating at Hyeongnim Dakgui. Huge, right? It's another reason this Daemyeong-dong chicken BBQ place in Daegu is a good pick for a group dinner.

There's a salad and Korean snack-food (bunsik) corner too.
There's also an event: post on Instagram and you get a bottle of alcohol as a free service, so definitely give it a try!

See the photo below for the menu. I captured it from Naver Place.

What does the soy chicken BBQ half plate look like?
At Hyeongnim Dakgui I ordered a half plate of chicken BBQ in the soy flavor. A half plate is allowed on the first order, which I liked. And since the chicken comes pre-grilled (chobol), it's really convenient.
After the pre-grilled meat arrives, a staff member trims and finishes it for you at the table.

Chicken grilled over strong charcoal heat can't possibly be bad.

Looking at a grill piled with prepared chicken, my mouth was watering. I was driving today, so no soju, which was such a shame.
Well-grilled chicken and white rice is the ultimate truth.

₩4,000 banquet noodles at Hyeongnim Dakgui: how big is the portion?
Along with the chicken, I ordered a tasty doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and a bowl of janchi guksu (banquet noodles in anchovy broth). The noodles are only ₩4,000, so the price felt easy on the wallet.

The portion is no joke, right? The look of it is amazing. There are so many noodles. I was bound to get stuffed, but it tasted so good I couldn't not eat it, and I totally overate.

And for dessert, tasty strawberry ice cream was right there to finish the meal.

Verdict on Hyeongnim Dakgui Daemyeong-dong Gyeongdae branch
Hyeongnim Dakgui Daemyeong-dong Gyeongdae branch, a chicken BBQ place in Daemyeong-dong, Daegu, has really well-built group seating, so it's a good place for a group dinner or gathering, and with a self-bar and dessert corner fully covered, I was very satisfied. The Gyeongdae parking lot is available too, so keep that in mind.
