Inside Haenyeo Sotbap: dining room, private rooms and dessert corner
Here's the inside of Haenyeo Sotbap Suseong Direct Store. The space was seriously upscale and spacious. As my first visit to this Suseong Lake restaurant, I fell for how clean and put-together it was.

You could tell a lot of care went into the interior — it felt genuinely upscale!

The private rooms are well set up too, so this looked like a good choice for gatherings or dinners in Daegu!

There's also a nice dessert corner — coffee and slushies are on offer.

There's a waiting area set up too!

Haenyeo Sotbap's menu and how the tableside smart order works
Here's the menu. Ordering is done through the smart order system placed at every table. True to the restaurant's name, sotbap is famous here, and the abalone dishes are also among the standout signature menu items. I wanted the abalone-and-seafood ttukbaegi (hot stone pot), and my kid loves abalone porridge, so that's what we ordered! Prices sit in the ₩20,000s range. There are also good signature set menus, so if you're visiting with four people, a set that lets you taste a bunch of dishes course-style could be a great choice!

What comes with the meal: grilled mackerel and mushroom tangsuyuk
The basic banchan (side dish) spread at Haenyeo Sotbap comes out beautifully arranged. The side dishes felt just like a hanjeongsik (traditional set-meal) restaurant! Everything except the grilled fish and mushroom tangsuyuk (sweet and sour dish) can be refilled.

My kid really enjoyed the grilled mackerel. Nice that it comes included as a default side.
The mushroom tangsuyuk was genuinely crispy outside, tender inside. It's fried fresh, so we got to eat it at its best.

The whole table filled up like this — the visual was no joke!

Butter-grilled abalone and the abalone-and-seafood ttukbaegi
We also ordered butter-grilled abalone as a side. They turn the abalone innards into a sauce-like accompaniment, which felt like a real point of difference from other places.

And here's the abalone-and-seafood ttukbaegi. It's packed with seafood — I kept eating and eating and it never seemed to end. A really satisfying menu choice.

The size of the abalone here is no joke. One bite and you can feel the energy surging.

How big is Haenyeo Sotbap's abalone porridge?
And here's the abalone porridge my kid ordered. It's loaded with so much abalone — the portion was substantial and the taste was satisfying. They even drew a heart in sesame seeds on top, which was such a cute touch!
The abalone porridge and seafood ttukbaegi combination is really great. Today was a day my mouth got thoroughly spoiled.
The abalone-and-seafood ttukbaegi was full of squid, shrimp, and other seafood I love, so picking through it bite by bite was a lot of fun.

The abalone porridge was absolutely delicious too. Honestly, think of it as about two servings' worth compared to other places — that's how generously packed with abalone this porridge is.

Is Haenyeo Sotbap a good spot for group meals in Suseong, Daegu?
This was my first visit to Haenyeo Sotbap, a Korean restaurant near Suseong Lake in Daegu known for its tasty Korean food and abalone dishes. I got to enjoy a delicious abalone-and-seafood ttukbaegi and abalone porridge that my kid loved. With its spacious dining room, comfortable tables, and well-equipped private rooms, this place really suits gatherings or company dinners in Suseong-gu. I think a visit here wouldn't be a bad choice at all.
