Suji sundaeguk restaurant for smell-sensitive eaters | Yeonnal

Yeonnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Suji-gu Office Station Branch is a sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup) restaurant on Munjeong-ro in Suji-gu, Yongin, and a branch of a brand that started in the sundae alley of Yongin Jungang Market. The writer, who is sensitive to meaty smells, ate there with her husband and child, ordering sundaeguk without sundae and without offal, a pyeonyuk (sliced boiled pork) and chalsundae (sticky-rice blood sausage) set, and a kids' gukbap set, and loved the odor-free, clean-finishing broth and the sweet-and-sour kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi). Gwangmyeong baby octopus with in-laws and cheese add-on: Jeongipum

The writer could not forget the first visit and returned with parents-in-law and a child, ordering griddle baby octopus at Shin Ramyun-level spice with the black pork belly 'extra add-ons' set and an added cheese topping. Thanks to high chairs, a kids' menu and staff who grill at the table, Jeongipum Jjukkumi was a satisfying spot for a three-generation family meal.

Suji shabu-kalguksu with Mom and a toddler: minced chili, Yun Ujae

Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu Gogidong Branch, also known as Gogi-ri Shabu Kalguksu, is a shabu-shabu noodle soup restaurant in Gogi-dong, Suji-gu, Yongin, near Dongcheon-dong. The blogger joined the Catchtable remote waitlist for a weekend lunch with her mother and 3-year-old child. They ordered 2 servings of the mild white broth at 11,500 won per person, extra sirloin and a crispy seafood pajeon (savory pancake). Because the minced cheongyang chili comes on the side, the spice-shy child and the adults could each set their own heat, which made Yun Ujae a satisfying three-generation family lunch.

Namdaemun egg bread shop: whole-egg buns & peanuts for Mom, Daesin

Daesin Ttangkong-ppang Namdaemun Market branch (대신땅콩빵) is a peanut bread and egg bread shop near Galchi Alley in Namdaemun Market, Jung-gu, Seoul, a short walk from Exit 5 of Hoehyeon Station. On a stroll through the market, the writer bought egg bread with a whole egg inside, peanut bread with whole peanuts, and roasted peanuts eaten shell and all, and enjoyed all three; peanut bread is 20 for 3,000 won and egg bread is 2,000 won each. Daesin Ttangkong-ppang is worth a stop for anyone who wants to taste the egg bread they used to love.

Weekend family revisit, non-spicy chicken hot pot in Migeum: Sugyeokok

Sugyeokok Bundang Migeum (수계옥 미금점) is a Korean chicken hot pot (dak hanmari) restaurant near Exit 4 of Migeum Station in Bundang, Seongnam. On her second visit, made on a weekend, the blogger Bibimmam shared the regular dak hanmari, chicken neck nurungji (scorched rice) porridge and a noodle set with her husband and daughter. Her hungry, fussy daughter quickly settled down over the starter porridge, and the clear, chili-free broth helped her finish a whole bowl of rice. Bibimmam strongly recommends Sugyeokok as a nourishing family meal out in Bundang with kids.

Apple Smile is a children's clothing shop in Unit 12 on the 1st floor of the Burdeng Kids' Clothing building (부르뎅아동복) in Namdaemun Market, Jung-gu, Seoul. A mom who finds outfit coordination hard described her 4-year-old daughter (94–95cm, 15kg), was recommended size 7, and bought three pieces at Apple Smile: a black skirt, baggy-fit jeans and a pink T-shirt that was on sale. The owner laid out two options side by side to compare, which made choosing easy, and all three pieces suited her daughter when tried on at home.

Jeongja eel restaurant: three-generation stone-pot lunch at Mansuheon

They ordered one Boyun stone-pot rice (25,000 won) and two Boheo stone-pot rice topped with beef-and-eel hamburg steak (19,000 won each), working through the bowls in stages with sauce, wasabi and dried pollack broth. Mansuheon Jeongja made a satisfying, restorative lunch for a three-generation family with a child.

Pho shop at Dongtan Station, family lunch before the break: Mibundang

Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch is a pho restaurant on the first floor of the Dongtan Station Richan Arcade in Dongtan, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. Mibundang usually has a long wait, so the writer went with her husband and first child just before the 15:00 break, when the line was short. They ordered brisket-and-flank pho, brisket-flank-and-tendon pho and the mixed fried platter, and fell for the deep, refreshing broth and beef with no gamey smell. The shop asks for quiet dining, but the whole family ate comfortably, and Mibundang Dongtan Station Branch became her all-time favorite pho spot.
