Semi-arch eyebrow tattoo at From Nana, a Bucheon brow tattoo studio

With summer makeup melting off constantly, and eyebrows especially making such a huge difference whether they're there or not, I'd been thinking about getting an eyebrow tattoo — so I went to visit From Nana, a well-known eyebrow tattoo spot in Bucheon!

Spoiler alert: this isn't your average eyebrow tattoo. They use the hair stroke technique, which gives a natural, high-end look, and so far my satisfaction level is off the charts :->

How to find From Nana: 3 minutes from Sang-dong Station, 6th floor of Sang-dong Town

From Nana is on the 6th floor of the Sang-dong Town building, 3 minutes from Sang-dong Station. Get off the elevator, walk down the hallway to the left, and just follow it until you see the From Nana sign!

Inside the From Nana studio: slippers, consultation table, mini fridge

There's no shoe rack at From Nana — you just switch into slippers before going in! The entrance felt clean and gave a great first impression from the start..♡

Past the counter, the shop interior opens up! I liked how the space felt divided into different zones :)

The consultation table even had small snacks and tissues laid out haha, such a nice touch..♡

Bucheon's From Nana isn't just eyebrow tattoos — lip tattoos are available too! And there's a mini fridge stocked with water and drinks, so no worries if you get thirsty haha.

There was also a full-length mirror with amazing proportions on one side of the shop! Hahaha I want one in my room..♡ Now that the tour's done, let's get into the consultation!

The eyebrow design consultation and why the semi-arch won

During the consultation at From Nana, they had laminated sheets ready so you could compare at a glance how different eyebrow designs change your whole look. I already had a semi-arch shape in mind, and the director also said a semi-arch would suit my face shape and vibe well.

Eyebrow tattoo techniques compared: embo, shadow, combo and hair stroke

• 🤍Embo technique: draws lines that look like brow hairs. Pigment injected by cutting the skin with a blade. Natural, but causes skin irritation
• 🤍Shadow technique: creates a gradient using tiny dots. Looks like you're wearing makeup
• 🤍Combo technique: embo + shadow
• 🤍Hair stroke technique: a machine draws each stroke one hair at a time. Natural, refined, low skin irritation

Bucheon's From Nana uses the hair stroke technique for their eyebrow tattoos! Looking at their example results, it definitely had a more natural, elevated look compared to embo or other techniques.

After filling out the consent form, we went straight into the procedure! It takes longer than you'd expect, so I'd recommend using the restroom beforehand :-)

The treatment room and hygiene at From Nana

Inside From Nana's treatment room, all the supplies needed for the procedure were neatly organized. Hygiene and cleanliness matter so much for eyebrow tattoos! I'm guessing that's exactly why they clean so thoroughly. Seeing how tidy it was inside put my mind at ease-🍃

The treatment bed was a soft, plush mat. It was so nice, seriously,, sometimes I've had to lie on those hard, boxy treatment beds and it's always uncomfortable, but From Nana got even these little details right.

That pillow especially,, was so comfortable. I should've asked where it's from ㅠ It was the kind of bedding set that makes you sleepy ♥ Who comes to get an eyebrow tattoo and ends up napping?! Me, apparently!

The eyebrow tattoo step by step: 10 minutes of numbing cream, then the design

Before starting the actual tattooing, they apply numbing cream and leave it on for about 10 minutes. Since it was pink cream, I tried acting a little cute (?) Not that it matters — it's just how I felt 💗

With my heart racing a bit, I hoped the cream would sink in well.

After 10 minutes, they wiped off the numbing cream and started on the eyebrow design first! This is my natural brow. Short, thin, and the hairs themselves look kind of sparse, right?

Throughout the design process, they kept checking the shape and asking what I'd like to adjust — longer tail, a bit thicker, angle it down, and so on — until we landed on the exact shape I wanted. Designing usually takes a long time, but the director at From Nana has such a sharp eye for symmetry and overall facial balance that it didn't take that long at all!

Hair stroke eyebrow tattoo before and after: a semi-arch that covered a 10-year-old tattoo

Ta-da ☆ It came out exactly as the semi-arch shape I wanted.

Even in the mirror shot, the symmetry and balance look great, right?? I was worried it might turn into thick caterpillar brows, but it honestly looked just like my natural eyebrows — it was so surprising!!

Can you see the before-and-after difference from a distance?? My dull, faint brows were reborn into pretty semi-arch eyebrows!! It looks so undetectable and natural that even in spots where hair wasn't growing, it looks like real hair actually grew there.

Here's the before-and-after up close! I'd gotten an eyebrow tattoo 10 years ago so there were faint traces left, and even those got cleaned up completely!! I used to think even embo, which is famous for looking natural, has its limits since it's done with a blade — hard to express fine thickness variation or true naturalness. But the hair stroke technique draws dots into lines with a machine, so it can adjust thickness naturally to look like real eyebrows, while also softening my whole expression.

Since the thickness is adjusted following the direction of the brow hair, you genuinely can't tell where the real eyebrow ends?! I had a date planned with my boyfriend the day of the procedure, and he kept saying all day how real they looked hahaha. And the irritation and pain were so minimal I actually dozed off partway through 😂 Here I was worried it would hurt.. I feel silly now haha.

From Nana sends you home with a kit for aftercare. It included cleansing wipes too, which I used up completely. It also has detailed instructions on precautions and aftercare, so make sure to read it thoroughly!!!

Thanks to From Nana, a well-loved eyebrow tattoo spot in Bucheon, I discovered the hair stroke technique for the first time — and I don't think I could ever go back to another technique.
