Busan sashimi restaurant in Gwangalli, no chili dip needed: Geumrang
In short
Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch is a sashimi restaurant with a Gwangan Bridge view on the 6th floor of Marine Rich in Gwangalli, Busan. The signature Subyeon Hansang set came like a course: a starter spread of abalone, live octopus, mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) and sushi, then a flounder, rockfish and sea bream sashimi platter, a sashimi refill, and maeuntang (spicy fish stew) with albap (fish roe rice) to finish. Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch suits families and travelers who want a generous sashimi meal while looking out at the sea.

Can you see Gwangan Bridge from Geumrang Hoetjip?
The restaurant is on the 6th floor of Marine Rich, close to Gwangalli Beach, so you can look out the window at Gwangan Bridge while you eat. That's the biggest plus of Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch.

By day you get a cool sea view, and in the evening the night view of Gwangan Bridge makes the mood even better. That's why people are so happy with it for dates and family meals alike. Window seats are especially popular, so if you're going on a weekend or in the evening, I'd recommend making a reservation.
What is the Subyeon Hansang set?
Subyeon Hansang is one of Geumrang Hoetjip's signature menus, a course-style set where you enjoy not just sashimi but a variety of seafood and dishes together. I ordered Subyeon Hansang again this visit. It suits sashimi lovers, and anyone who wants to try lots of different foods at once.

Right after ordering, a big basic spread comes out first. The table filled up all at once, which was impressive.
What comes in the Subyeon Hansang starter spread
The basic spread of Subyeon Hansang comes with abalone, live octopus (sannakji), mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), sushi, assorted seafood and side dishes. Every dish was neatly prepared, which made it nice to look at too.

The texture of the fresh seafood was especially good, and I liked being able to taste a little of lots of different dishes. It felt like the meal had already started before the sashimi even arrived.
Which fish are in Geumrang Hoetjip's sashimi platter?
The assorted sashimi platter is the star of Subyeon Hansang. The lineup can change with the season, but you can try several kinds of live fish sashimi, such as flounder, rockfish and sea bream. The freshness of Geumrang Hoetjip's platter was the first thing I noticed.

It was great for tasting the natural flavor of the fish, and it felt fresh even without chojang (spicy vinegar-chili sauce) or soy sauce. Above all, the portion is generous, so even a group of several people won't come up short.
Does the Subyeon Hansang include a sashimi refill?
Yes, one of the biggest features of Subyeon Hansang is the sashimi refill. For people who love sashimi, I think that's a really welcome part of the set. Being able to enjoy the extra sashimi made it feel like good value, too.
Finishing with spicy fish stew and fish roe rice
Food keeps coming even after the sashimi, so it felt like eating a full course meal.

At the end I finished the meal with maeuntang (spicy fish stew). The cool, kick-of-spice broth made the finish satisfying too.

Eaten with the egg and roe rice (albap), it made a hearty, filling meal.
Who is Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch best for?
I'd recommend Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch to anyone looking for a meal with parents, a family gathering, a Busan trip or a date. If you want a memorable meal on your Busan trip, a Subyeon Hansang set with a view of the Gwangalli sea is worth a visit.
