Odeng Osaek lets you feel like you're at a Japanese-style oden bar right near Gangnam Station. It takes about 5 minutes from Exits 9 and 10, and it's tucked in the back alley — right past the samgyeopsal (pork belly) alley! There's a happy hour coupon for 2,900 won draft beer from 4 to 7pm. You can also order it straight from the counter without a coupon. We went before 7 and had a glass!

Odeng Osaek is my pick for a second-round bar near Gangnam Station. The interior is clean, with seating good for groups, bar (dachi) seats perfect for dates, and an outdoor terrace too. The weather and mood were great that day so we sat outside.

Full-on Japanese vibes here.. The interior has a wood-tone design, and each table even has its own little oden bar to eat from! And here's another reason I recommend it as a second-round Gangnam bar — the bathroom is spotless.. so good!

The basic snack was cham crackers and tuna. This is always delicious no matter when you eat it..

Odeng Osaek menu and prices: how many oden hotpots are there?

As an izakaya bar near Sinnonhyeon Station, Odeng Osaek's menu is mostly oden soup, true to its name as an oden bar, and there are plenty of varieties.

• Suji Oden Soup 28,500 won — a rich broth filled with chewy, savory beef tendon (suji) and fish cakes
• Oden Set (mild) 19,500 won — 2 kkobuli (curly fish cakes), konjac, mul-tteok (rice cake), shrimp fish cake ball, dumpling fish cake, pick 2 handmade oden / spicy option also available, and we ordered it spicy!
• Japanese Oden Moriawase (assorted set) 24,000 won — an authentic assortment with Japanese handmade oden
• Mala Oden Soup 23,000 won — an authentic Chinese-style mala oden soup. I need to try this next time.. looks so good
• Assorted Fried Oden 24,500 won — for when you don't feel like soup, go fried!
• Perilla Leaf Tteokbokki 17,500 won — tteokbokki is the golden rule with oden.. if we'd come here for a first round, we definitely would've ordered this too
• Kushikatsu 7-piece Set 20,000 won — an authentic Japanese kushikatsu assortment (individual orders also possible)

Beyond the main menu, there are all kinds of dishes — a wide glass noodle side dish, red oden, yurinchi, okonomiyaki, Tokyo-style fried horse mackerel, tebasaki, chicken nanban, kimchi udon, and for lighter sides there's mochi tofu, fried tofu, jjagyechi, and more — making Odeng Osaek near Sinnonhyeon Station good for both a first round and a laid-back second round.

We just went for the oden soup and ordered right away, but I had no idea there were this many side dishes.. and so many of them are delicious.. Also a great spot for a second round after a Gangnam meetup!

The oden soup we ordered spicy. The mul-tteok (rice cake) was at the bottom, so I fished it up to the top. I ordered it just for the mul-tteok, so I panicked a bit when I couldn't see it lol

Weekday dates are the best~ It'd been a while since I drank in Gangnam on a weekday, and this early, too, so the soju went down so, so smoothly!

Every single piece of oden was delicious, and the broth was nicely spicy too. Honestly you could order one pot and just keep ordering soju alongside it!

Honestly, the kkobuli (curly fish cake) oden is the number one item, no contest..!

The happiness of a 2,900-won draft beer.. isn't it a total steal from 4 to 7pm? A great spot for daytime drinking near Gangnam Station too!!

On a nice day, oden soup and soju on the terrace.. highly recommend.. great vibe, great taste.. Sitting on the terrace, they don't give you the individual oden bar, but instead set it on a burner — and honestly, this vibe is also great.. even better because you can keep eating it warm the whole time..

The yubu (fried tofu) pocket was delicious too.. Since this was our second round, it was a shame we couldn't eat more, but I think it'd be just as good as a first-round bar next time — that's Odeng Osaek, the izakaya near Sinnonhyeon. There's a 1+1 draft beer coupon and the 2,900-won happy hour draft, so make sure to use them if you go..! Especially if you're looking for a Gangnam terrace bar, Odeng Osaek is a strong recommend for a quiet, good-vibe spot.. would also work great as a second-round spot for a blind date ^^
