While looking for somewhere to eat meat late in Nonhyeon, I visited Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch (대패마켙 강남논현점). It is always busy whenever I pass by, and once you visit, you can see why people come here in such numbers, haha. Best of all, it is open 24 hours, so you can come by without worrying about the time. Located in Nonhyeon’s dining alley, it is easy enough to get to and was a great Gangnam spot for meat when a late-night craving hits.
Location and atmosphere at this 24-hour Korean BBQ restaurant near Nonhyeon Station
Daepae Market Gangnam Nonhyeon Branch is on the first floor at 49 Hakdong-ro 2-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, about a three-minute walk from Exit 3 of Nonhyeon Station.
Storefront

The restaurant was roomier than I expected, with tables spaced comfortably apart. There are terrace seats too, so it looked like a good option for groups. Plenty of people were eating when I went, which gave the whole place a lively feel.

It is close to Exit 3 of Nonhyeon Station, so it is easy to visit on foot. However, the restaurant does not have its own parking. If you are driving, you will need to use a nearby paid parking lot, so it is worth keeping that in mind before you go.

Pets are welcome too, although you need to bring a carrier.

What is included in the ₩2,000 self bar?
One of the things I liked most at Daepae Market was the self bar. For just ₩2,000 extra per person, you can have unlimited vegetables, all kinds of side dishes, and sauces. I tend to eat lots of ssam vegetables (wrap greens) with meat, so I especially loved this setup. You can bring back as much as you want, making it easy to enjoy a generous spread of meat and vegetables. Vegetable prices at supermarkets are no joke these days, so I honestly wondered how they could make a profit offering unlimited refills at this price. Being able to pair the meat with such a variety of vegetables, “great-value pork belly” was exactly the right description.

From sliced pork belly to lunch specials
Daepae Market has a wide range of options beyond sliced pork belly. You can choose sliced pork neck, sliced five-layer pork belly, sliced chewy pork belly, pork jowl, beef belly, or sliced duck, depending on your taste. At lunch, there are also lunch specials combining sliced pork belly and the self bar with a stew or noodle dish, so it looked like a decent choice for office workers too. If you come as a group, it is nice that everyone can order the meat they want.

Thick-cut sliced pork belly and myeongran dadaegi rice
That day, I ordered 600g of sliced pork belly and myeongran dadaegi rice for ₩5,500. What I particularly liked about the pork belly was that you can choose the thickness. You can have it thin or thick, and I went with thick-cut.

Side dishes and vegetables I brought from the self bar

The thicker slices kept the nutty flavor that is characteristic of daepae while still giving the meat some texture, which was delicious. There was plenty of meat too, so we could grill and eat at a leisurely pace. It was filling without being too expensive, and I could see why people looking for good-value pork belly would enjoy it.

After the meat, I debated getting fried rice, but decided to try something a little different and ordered the myeongran dadaegi rice. It was much more delicious than I expected. The savory, salty umami of myeongran (seasoned pollock roe) was joined by the spicy flavor of dadaegi seasoning, and it really woke up my appetite. It paired well with the meat and was delicious even on its own, so I was very happy with it. I think I would order this again on my next visit.

I could understand why so many people stop by. The meat prices are not too burdensome, and with the self bar as well, you can have a really generous meal.

When you crave meat late at night
There are not many places you can go when you want meat late at night or at dawn, but this place is open 24 hours, which makes it especially useful. If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Nonhyeon regardless of the time, this is a Gangnam restaurant worth remembering.
