Gangnam Korean BBQ with juicy pork neck: Sansol Sinnonhyeon

Yayyy, I made last-minute plans last Friday and had dinner at Sansol (산솔), a pork belly spot near Sinnonhyeon Station ᡣ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶𐭩 ~~♡

Things I looked at while waiting. It had the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's top hygiene rating, very excellent—so nice ✨ And apparently there is such a thing as a grilling meister. I do not know what it is, but it must be a good thing! ദ്ദി⸝⸝•̀֊•́⸝⸝)

A trendy Korean BBQ restaurant packed on Friday

What is this atmosphereee? 🧚🏻♀️

The trendy interior and lighting were just right - ̗̀ෆ ˶'ᵕ'˶ ෆ ̖́- I do not like Korean BBQ places that are too bright! There were so many people around Sinnonhyeon on Friday night, and Sansol was full too. Even though we had a reservation, we waited more than 10 minutes before getting in! It does feel like a shame to stay home on a Friday, though 👀

Pork belly, pork neck, and how we chose the set menu

The pork belly menu at this Sinnonhyeon Station favorite ദ്ദി( ˃ ᵕ ˂ദ്ദി) The discounted San Modeum set, for 2–3 or 3–4 people, comes with pork belly, pork neck, and a chewy pork cut, and is a little cheaper than ordering individually. The difference did not seem huge, so we ordered two servings of pork belly and one serving of pork neck à la carte. But the pork neck here was reaaally delicious, so ordering two servings of pork neck would have been good too! 😋 They also sell Korean beef brisket and marbled beef rib meat, so you can have beef as well as pork ದി՞˶ෆ . ෆ˶ ՞

The basic side dishes that arrived after ordering the meat were plentiful. Green onion meat sauce, aged kimchi, seasoned vegetables, yuzu radish salad, herring roe jeotgal (salted seafood), nabak kimchi (water kimchi), ssamjang (dipping paste), wasabi, young-radish pickles, and Maldon salt all came as part of the spread.

Free corkage and a maesil highball

I think free corkage is a major plus at Sansol, a pork belly restaurant in Sinnonhyeon. I did not know corkage was free, so I regretted not bringing alcohol. I wrote a visitor review and received a maesil (Korean plum) highball. I think there were three kinds of highball? I had the maesil highball!!

Ohhh, maybe the smell really did not cling to me?? Better than the smell, though, was that there was hardly any smoke—so good ✨

Pre-grilled meat and kkakdugi fried rice you have to try

Two servings of pork belly and one serving of pork neck (₩51,000). The meat takes a while because it is pre-grilled once before being served❕ I think orders were backed up because there were so many people too. You need to wait patiently 👍🏻

Kkakdugi fried rice (2 servings), ₩10,000. The fried rice comes separately on a hot plate like this. At ₩10,000 for two servings, it did feel expensive compared with fried rice at other Korean BBQ places, but it was so good I could faint... it is worth it. I almost finished all the fried rice before the meat was even done; hahaha. Please please try the kkakdugi fried rice 💕

Pork neck I liked even more than the staff-grilled pork belly

The staff grill the meat themselves from start to finish!! I only learned while writing this review that you can grill it yourself too. They were already busy because it was packed, so maybe I should have grilled it myself.

They grilled the meat beautifully golden too ദി՞˶ෆ . ෆ˶ ՞ The pork at Sansol Sinnonhyeon is insanely delicious, bursting with juices. The pork belly was also the best I have had recently, but the pork neck was even crazier.

The maesil highball I got through the review event was sweet and delicious ᡣ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶𐭩♡ If you follow their notifications before visiting, or if it is your birthday, they also give you Cheongmo Premium makgeolli (Korean rice wine). I am very picky about makgeolli, so I could not try it ㅠㅠㅠ The staff grill the meat, and the meat itself is so delicious that I really want to visit again. I totally, totally recommend Sansol Sinnonhyeon, a great pork belly spot near Sinnonhyeon Station. Having such a delicious dinner on Friday made me very happy!!
