Mokdong ramen restaurant with three ways to eat: Gyedan Ramen
In short
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch is a Japanese-style ramen restaurant on the B1 level of SBS Mokdong headquarters in Yangcheon, Seoul. I tried Gyedan Ramen, fried beef intestine motsu ramen, and tamago rice, plus spicy sauce and rice for three ways to enjoy it. Verdict: a filling meal with rich yet clean broth.

I stopped by Gyedan Ramen on the first basement level of the SBS broadcasting station to try its delicious Gyedan Ramen and motsu ramen at this great Mokdong ramen spot.

The presentation really gives off a strong traditional Japanese feel.
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch: location and menu
Gyedan Ramen Mokdong Branch is a newly opened ramen restaurant near Hyundai Department Store Mokdong, Omokgyo Station, and Mokdong Station. Along with Gyedan Ramen and motsu ramen, there are mini rice bowls too. The tamago rice and milk tea are also popular.

Overall, it feels steeped in an upscale, authentic Japanese atmosphere, while still being distinctly clean and polished in its own way.

There are all kinds of seats, including solo, two-person, and four-person tables. Today’s choices were Gyedan Ramen and motsu ramen.

- Gyedan Ramen ₩11,000
- Motsu Ramen ₩12,000
- Tamago Rice ₩3,000
- Total ₩26,000

There’s even a freebie for leaving a receipt review. Stylish little objects are scattered throughout the restaurant, too. The solo seats look especially nice—you could eat in a surprisingly private way. High chairs for little ones are ready as well.
Motsu ramen with fried beef intestine
The tamago rice came out first, followed by the motsu ramen with fried beef intestine. It came with makchang (beef abomasum), wood ear mushrooms, and egg, all cooked with chashu pork; everything was nicely seasoned and delicious. The fluffy tamago egg and toppings filled the bowl. Even the green onions looked kind of cute.

Rather than the intense, rich, salty flavor of ramen in Japan, this is a milder interpretation with a Korean touch. The springy thin noodles don’t taste good once they get soggy, so save time and eat them at a brisk pace.

The fried beef intestine makes it an extra-special treat, and I tried the chashu too. There’s seaweed as well, for a wholesome meal. Just looking at it, the broth seems incredibly rich and nutty. Even though I ordered the standard version, the broth had a deep, concentrated flavor. I really loved how rich yet clean it tasted.

There are heaps of bean sprouts too, so it’s good food for gut health.

With all those generous toppings, it was both abundant and wonderfully filling.

The makchang was so tasty, and the noodles were cooked just right.

Three ways to enjoy Gyedan Ramen
The chashu makes this fun to eat, too. You can also have it in a spicy karai-style version. I added the spicy sauce and ate it as karai ramen, and it had a pleasantly fiery kick. After finishing the noodles, I mixed in a bowl of rice and ate it with kimchi, which brought out yet another charm.
- First, enjoy the ramen’s original flavor as it arrives
- Add the house spicy sauce for extra heat
- Mix in rice for an even more filling meal
The sauce is quite spicy, so add just a little first, then add more if you can handle it. You don’t want to dump in a huge amount, find it too hot, and be unable to finish later.

The yellow tamago rice was satisfying in both looks and flavor. One bite of rice, one sip of broth—oh my, I got so full~

It has a mild, light flavor that both children and adults will enjoy. The motsu ramen topped with fried makchang in rich broth, and the Gyedan Ramen with its rich broth, were both really delicious. It’s an easy place to visit for lunch, dinner, or even a solo meal.
