Why Palpal Hoesenta at Daepo Port for snow crab with a baby in Sokcho?

My husband and I actually like snow crab more than king crab — that salty flavor just drives me crazy, haha!

This time since we had our baby with us, we looked for a more comfortable place and ended up at Palpal Hoesenta Daepo Port branch. It was our first time here so I was a little curious what it'd be like, but it ended up being more comfortable than expected, so I'm recording it here :)

Daepo Port Public Parking Lot 2 is right outside, and baby seats are ready

We parked at Daepo Port Public Parking Lot 2 and walked straight into Palpal Hoesenta in Building S of Daepo Port Fish Market, right next door. When you're moving around with a baby, even a long walk from parking to the restaurant is a whole ordeal, ㅠㅠ so having it right nearby after parking was really nice.

And when we went in and asked for a baby seat, they brought one right out — thank you thank you haha.

Fresh fish, king crab, snow crab and more — so many fresh friends in the tanks, drooling 🤤🤤

Window seats at Palpal Hoesenta are reserved, but the table still felt open

We went a bit early in the evening, but the window seats were already reserved ㅜㅜ. Still, the door was wide open and the windows were big, so it didn't feel stuffy at all!

Ordering Snow Crab Set B: Dokdo shrimp comes included

The menu had all kinds of options from king crab to snow crab, but since we love snow crab, we went with Snow Crab Set B, which comes with two large crabs.

Dokdo shrimp served as part of the default set
Side dishes for the set all laid out at once

I didn't really know much about Dokdo shrimp so this was my first time trying it — it was such a nice surprise that it comes included as a default.

Best of all, the food came out and covered the whole table right after we ordered, lol. We're the type who loves it when a place brings out a lot all at once, so this made us really happy haha.

A glass of soju with the seafood spread

Ah honestly, you can't have this kind of meal without a shot glass, right?! I decided to have just one bottle of soju, my husband toasted with cola~~ The squid sashimi is so good every single time!

Large snow crab served pre-cleaned

How much meat is in the large snow crabs? They arrive pre-cleaned

And then the crab we'd been waiting for showed up! We ordered the large size, but I was surprised the snow crab was genuinely king-crab-sized — the meat yield was seriously packed full. So delicious!!!

Our daughter took her spot at the table too and got quite a bit of crab meat fed to her haha. Best of all, it came already pre-cleaned, which was so convenient. Cracking shells while eating crab is honestly a lot of hand work, so having it done for us meant we could just eat right away. When you're out with a kid, you have to look after them while eating, so this kind of thing matters a lot for dining out with a baby.

Fried rice made in the snow crab shell

Finishing with tomalley fried rice and spicy fish stew

And of course, you can't skip the tomalley fried rice! I only got two spoonfuls in before my husband finished the rest ㅡ,ㅡ lol. But I was too busy eating crab so it was fine.

And to finish, the spicy fish stew (maeuntang) came out too. After eating snow crab you're pretty full already, but somehow you end up eating the soup anyway, lol.

Overall we ate a hearty meal and left satisfied — this was a new place for us and it turned out better than expected. Since we came with our baby Ina this time, we found ourselves paying more attention to how easy it was to eat with a baby, taste aside. They prepared a baby seat, the food came pre-cleaned so it was easy to eat, and the parking at Daepo Port Public Parking Lot 2 right nearby was convenient too. Of course, the vibe might be different during busier hours, but when we visited, it wasn't uncomfortable at all to eat while looking after Ina.

Parking voucher and the verdict on Palpal Hoesenta

Most of all, since my husband and I love snow crab, the yield this time was really good, so the two of us picked away at it eagerly lol. On this Sokcho trip, because of the baby we looked for somewhere a bit more comfortable instead of our usual spot, and it worked out — we ate delicious snow crab and could take care of Ina at the same time, so we left in a good mood.

If you're looking for a place to eat snow crab with a baby in Sokcho, this might be worth checking out from the perspective of someone visiting with a baby, like me :) And they gave us a parking voucher for 90 minutes of support before we left.

Even on this Sokcho trip, I still can't resist good food lol. Now that we're going around with a baby, instead of just going anywhere like before, we look for somewhere a bit more comfortable — and this time, we found Palpal Hoesenta and properly enjoyed some snow crab 🦀
