Sokcho sashimi restaurant flounder set for two: Sinhaeburi Hoejip
In short
Sinhaeburi Hoejip is a sashimi restaurant on Daepohang-gil at Daepo Harbor in Sokcho, Gangwon, with a wide interior built around long communal tables. The small flounder sashimi, portioned for two, arrived with conch, shrimp and clam starters, then ongsimi (potato dumpling soup), fried snacks, grilled fish and kimchi pancake, and finally a side mulhoe (chilled raw fish soup), with flounder slices that were thick and chewy. Why we picked Sinhaeburi Hoejip among the Daepo Harbor sashimi restaurants
Sinhaeburi Hoejip is a raw fish restaurant on Daepohang-gil near Daepo Harbor in Sokcho, and this time I went to try the small flounder sashimi. I'd just come back from a Sokcho-Yangyang trip, and going to Sokcho without eating hoe (raw fish) just felt wrong haha. So I went looking for a good spot near Daepo Harbor — after checking out a bunch of places, Sinhaeburi Hoejip kept coming up as clean and pretty tasty, so I decided to check it out.

Where Sinhaeburi Hoejip is: location, parking and hours
Here's the exterior of Sinhaeburi Hoejip near Daepo Harbor. Clean-looking, and the sign kind of pretty in a way that suggests the sea? Haha. Even the font feels like they put some thought into the design.
Here's the location! It's near Daepo Harbor in Sokcho, and you can park right in front of the restaurant. But since parking spots are limited when it's busy, keep in mind there's a public parking lot nearby too. Hours are 11:30 - 22:00, last order 21:00.

Inside Sinhaeburi Hoejip: long tables that suit groups
Here's the inside of Sinhaeburi Hoejip. It's pretty spacious! And it's mostly long, group-style tables, so this is a good Daepo Harbor spot for a bigger crowd. Would work well for a tour bus group or a group trip near Sokcho stopping in for lunch.
What I ordered: small flounder sashimi
Ordering the small flounder sashimi: starters arrive first
Sinhaeburi Hoejip actually sells a ton of different kinds of raw fish, and out of all of them I ordered the small flounder sashimi!

I was a little worried it'd just be the sashimi with nothing else, or that it'd be pricey. Turned out I really didn't need to worry haha. The banchan alone came out super generous first.

Conch, shrimp, and what I think were clams... plus seaweed, corn salad, aged kimchi... The conch looked so good I felt like I could fill up just nibbling on these bit by bit haha.

And to help enjoy the sashimi, they gave us soy sauce, ssamjang, chili, and garlic too. Good to eat with lettuce and other veggies later.

Is it even okay for a side seafood spread to be this good? It was so delicious.... the clams were so fresh and tasty.... so chewy I want to eat them again haha. The banchan just kept coming without end.
The sashimi from Sinhaeburi Hoejip near Daepo Harbor hasn't even arrived yet and I'm already full haha.

Then more vegetables came out, good for wrapping and seasoning once the sashimi arrives!
Small flounder sashimi
How much flounder sashimi comes in the small set for two?
Here's the small flounder sashimi from Sinhaeburi Hoejip! It's basically portioned for two, and the slices looked incredibly thick.
Everything was chewy and delicious, and depending on your taste you could mix it up with soy sauce, wasabi, mulhoe broth, perilla leaves — so many combos, and it was seriously so, so good.

Even our furry friend was watching the sashimi and side dishes with such interest haha. I really felt like I'd found the right raw fish restaurant near Daepo Harbor in Sokcho.
The banchan up front was so plentiful, and there was quite a lot of flounder sashimi too? So I was already full haha. By the way, the flounder fin was so good — kept melting in my mouth and I couldn't stop eating it.....

The sashimi was really firm and springy, nutty, chewy, melts in your mouth — so good!!!
Round two of banchan
Second round of side dishes: ongsimi, fritters, grilled fish, kimchi pancake
Even with all that banchan already out, Sinhaeburi Hoejip near Daepo Harbor brings out a second round of side dishes. Ongsimi (glutinous rice balls) came out, plus fried food and squid, super generous — and it's still not over!

Nicely grilled fish and kimchi pancake came out too. I already thought this was a lot before this...

The side mulhoe at Sinhaeburi Hoejip rivals a mulhoe specialist
And then — this is where I was really impressed.... mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) came out. Of course it's Sokcho — this raw fish restaurant near Daepo Harbor even serves mulhoe as a side dish...... truly the best.
Even the mulhoe at Sinhaeburi Hoejip near Daepo Harbor is loaded with tons of raw fish and top-notch quality....
I genuinely love mulhoe and eat it all over the place, but a lot of mulhoe spots skimp on the fish or leave you wanting more. Here, even as a side dish, the mulhoe was packed as generously as a dedicated mulhoe restaurant! Loads of vegetables too, and it was so refreshing and delicious.
If you're looking for a good raw fish restaurant near Daepo Harbor in Sokcho, I recommend Sinhaeburi Hoejip! Seriously generous, the staff are kind, everything's fresh — the best restaurant near Daepo Harbor.
