In short
Winners Motel is a budget motel in Sokcho's Gyodong food street in Gangwon, close to Sokcho Beach, Jungang Market and the intercity bus terminal. Staying alone in room 703 the night before Seorak Waterpia, the writer found amenities that even included a hair straightener, a bathroom without a single stray hair, and a 24-hour CU convenience store with a microwave on the ground floor for takeout. I went to a motel near Sokcho's Jungang Market last week to head to Seorak Waterpia the next day. Here's my solo review of Winners Motel, a clean, friendly, and reasonably priced budget stay in Sokcho ⛺️⛺️⛺️

Where is Winners Motel, and is parking free?
Winners Motel is located in Sokcho's Gyodong food street, close to Sokcho Beach, Jungang Market (5 minutes by car), and both the express and intercity bus terminals — a great budget stay in Sokcho. Address: 33 Meokgeori 2-gil, Gyodong, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do, South Korea 🚘 Free dedicated parking right next to the building ⭕️

Winners Motel has been running for 20 years and was recently remodeled, so it's pleasant and clean, run by a family with a high repeat-visitor rate. Since I had to get to Seorak Waterpia the next day, I didn't want the pressure of leaving Seoul early in the morning, so I came down the night before — and went solo so I could just relax.

A 24-hour CU convenience store and microwave on the ground floor
There's a 24-hour CU convenience store on the first floor, which is convenient, and a microwave there too, so you can easily heat up takeout food.

Check-in times and house rules at Winners Motel (no snow crab)
Check-in at Winners Motel is at 3pm and check-out at 12pm, and pets in rooms plus snow crab are not allowed. I guess snow crab has such a strong smell that it's banned haha (all rooms are non-smoking🚭🚭🚭🚭🚭)

What room 703 at Winners Motel looked like
While looking for a budget stay in Sokcho, I found Winners Motel had a great location and a promotion going on, so I ended up staying in room 703. The room was fairly spacious with a big window that let in lots of light, and most of all it was so clean. The owner was kind too, so it's a place I'd like to visit again.

Room amenities, right down to a hair straightener
The disposable amenities are well stocked and easy to use, and the fridge comes with water, coffee mix, and paper cups. There's a hair dryer, lotion, and coffee pot as standard, but unlike other places, there's also a hair straightener, which is so convenient!!! I need a straightener for my bangs, so having one already there is such a relief.

They used the space well — there's a rack next to the fridge unit that also works as a hanger, and hanging clothes there keeps things tidy.

A table that makes eating takeout alone easy
The bed itself was so clean, and right next to it there's a chair and table where you can set down snacks or sit and eat. Since I was there alone that day, I got takeout for dinner, set it on the table, and ate sitting on the bed — it was so comfortable.

How clean was the bathroom? Bidet included
Bathroom cleanliness matters most to me, and I didn't spot a single stray hair — every room also has a bidet. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are all generously stocked.

Air conditioning and a walk to Cheongcho Lake, 5 minutes away
That night I ate something good while watching TV and felt completely happy. It was still a bit warm, so I turned on the AC, and the temperature dropped quickly and it got cool fast. These days at night it's a bit chilly, so just running dehumidify mode while sleeping is enough. Since it's near Gyodong food street there's plenty to eat, and it's also a nice 5-minute walk to Cheongcho Lake for a stroll. I had a morning schedule the next day so I didn't get to look around, but I wish I'd gone to check out Cheongcho Lake.
Is Winners Motel worth it for a Sokcho stay under ₩50,000?
This is the weekday rate, but if you're looking for a clean, pleasant budget stay in Sokcho under ₩50,000, stop by Winners Motel. It's close to the intercity bus terminal, express bus terminal, Jungang Market, and Sokcho Beach, so it's easy to get around, and it's also near Seorak Waterpia, where I was headed~~~~ 👍👍👍👍 It's been running at this location for 20 years, and a recent remodel with new windows and ceilings makes it even cleaner and more pleasant.
