I heard there was a great place near Sokcho Daepo Port where pot rice and seafood in soy sauce come together as a set—perfect for bringing the grown-ups—so I went to Sokcho Geu Badaro 😊

Sokcho Geu Badaro: Exterior and Interior

It is near Sokcho Daepo Port and right along a main road, so it was easy to find! I used the parking lot right beside the restaurant.

The first thing I felt when I walked in was that it seemed more like a stylish, beautifully decorated café than a restaurant, haha.
The restaurant was really spacious, and the tables were nicely spread out, which made the meal more comfortable. Further inside, there was seating that felt suited to groups, so it would be nice for family gatherings or company dinners too.
High chairs were available too, so I could eat comfortably even with a baby along, haha.
There were also packaged items displayed by the entrance: soy-marinated shrimp, octopus, and abalone. They would make nice gifts for parents or friends too!
Pot Rice and Assorted Seafood in Soy Sauce

Pot rice and assorted seafood in soy sauce were the signature menu items. The pot rice came in five varieties—abalone, scallop, red snow crab, octopus, and cockle—and the assorted seafood came in several sizes, so you can order for however many people are visiting and eat without feeling shorted!
What Came with the Two-Person Seafood Set

The two-person assorted seafood in soy sauce set arrived neatly with 11 side dishes.

There was such a wonderful variety of side dishes, and I loved how each one felt carefully prepared and neatly presented, haha. The seasoned baby crab, zucchini namul (seasoned vegetable side dish), sweet pumpkin salad, dried radish strips, and roasted seaweed were especially delicious!
The assorted seafood set also included potato pot rice, with ginkgo nuts and mushrooms, so it had the feel of a nourishing rice dish. Later, you have to pour in water and make sungnyung (scorched-rice tea) for dessert, haha.

The assorted seafood platter had so many different items and such upscale plating that it was impossible not to take photos!!!

It was packed with premium seafood—shrimp, scallops, octopus, abalone, salmon, and soy-marinated crab—and every single one looked so delicious, haha.

There was also a sauce with egg yolk in the middle. Mix it well, then dip the seafood in soy sauce into it for an even tastier bite!!

The octopus legs were huge and plump, and the salmon and abalone looked delicious too. Everything was cut into easy-to-eat pieces and arranged for us. Even all sliced up, it still looked so good, hahaha.

Trying the Seafood with Seaweed and Sauce
I tried the seafood on its own, dipped in the egg-yolk sauce, and wrapped in roasted seaweed with white rice—and because the seafood was so good, it was insanely delicious however I ate it..❤️ The shrimp were so springy and well seasoned, and it was my first time having soy-marinated octopus. It tasted fresh, and the plump octopus legs had such a satisfying chew. The scallops and abalone were so delicious too, haha.
A Sokcho Meal That Is Great with Parents
Both the atmosphere and the menu made this such a perfect place to bring the grown-ups for a meal! Most of the other guests were actually dining with older family members or attending gatherings, and it was nice that the nourishing pot rice was included in the assorted seafood set too.
This seafood in soy sauce was the kind of dish you taste once with your eyes and again with your mouth: it was so pretty, beautifully plated, clean-tasting, and full of different seafood to try. If you are looking for a great restaurant near Sokcho Daepo Port or a place that is nice to bring parents, I recommend Sokcho Geu Badaro for its gorgeous assorted seafood platter and nourishing pot rice ❤️
