Einspänner and brownie ice cream at GRAY LAZY, a Muan café
In short
GRAY LAZY is a monotone café on the 2nd floor of a building on Daejukseo-ro 16beon-gil in Muan, Gwangju. Guests grab a menu at the entrance, sit down, and fill out an order slip in pencil, and staff bring the order — an einspänner, an americano, and brownie ice cream — right to the table. Even with a full house, the café stayed quiet enough to linger for hours.

I went back to GRAY LAZY, a café in Namak, Muan, after a long while haha. First-timers might wonder "wait, where is it?" but just look for the standing sign at the entrance and you'll know you're in the right place.
GRAY LAZY is located on the 2nd floor.

How does ordering work at GRAY LAZY?
Unlike most places, there's no kiosk or counter to order at right away — instead you calmly pick your menu at the table and write it down yourself with a pencil haha.

So when you walk in, grab the menu sitting at the entrance and bring it with you.

A black-and-gray monotone space
The moment you walk in, you feel the overall black and gray monotone mood. Maybe because the colors themselves are so calm, but the space doesn't feel cluttered even when it's full of people.
And the café is quite spacious. There are people sitting alone, families, and friends chatting haha.
When I went, it felt like about half the guests were solo and half were families or groups — even with that mix, everyone seemed to be spending their own time. Bustling, but not loud, if that makes sense haha.
GRAY LAZY definitely has its own distinct vibe haha.

Let's look at the menu and pick something to eat haha.

You need to write your table number on the slip. And here, they actually bring your order right to you! Not many places do that these days haha.

We ordered an einspänner, an americano, and brownie ice cream.

While going up to order, I snapped some photos of the little decor pieces around us. Spaces like this end up being surprisingly good for photos haha.

Overall it doesn't feel overdone, but the lighting, furniture, and small objects come together so well that photos turn out with a really different mood.

The dessert case and cold brew display
You can see the desserts over here.

The cold brew coffee is sold bottled like this.

The super popular churros and the bagel set here haha.

I heard the marron glacé and pudding are delicious too. Gotta try those next time~

Note doodles and the Hall of Fame
Each table has notepaper and a pencil, and it seems people doodle on them and stick them up front. There's even a "Hall of Fame" wall where the best ones get put on display.
Wow...!!
So we thought about trying it too... never mind.

How the einspänner, americano, and brownie ice cream tasted
My einspänner, americano, and brownie ice cream arrived~

With the two coffees set down first, they already look pretty good, right?

Ice cream piled on top of the brownie already looks like a full sugar recharge! There's whipped cream and a heap of nuts scattered over the brownie too. Take a bite of the brownie and ice cream together — yum.

You know how rich, fudgy chocolate gets even better with cold ice cream added, right?

For the einspänner, I tasted the cream on top first, then took a sip with the coffee together~ The soft, sweet cream with the coffee's bitterness haha. The cream is genuinely delicious haha. Something this good deserves a video~

The americano was nutty with such a good aroma. It really does feel richer than chain-store beans. I'm no coffee expert but... how is it this nutty and still has a nice, balanced acidity?

Why it stays quiet even when it's crowded
Honestly, what stood out most about GRAY LAZY that day wasn't even the menu — it was the space. There were quite a lot of people. But strangely, it never really felt loud.

Some people sitting quietly alone, families chatting, everyone drinking their coffee and spending their own time. Maybe that's why I naturally ended up sitting there for a long while too haha.

And the coffee we had together was so good, plus the sweet brownie haha. GRAY LAZY, a café in Namak, Muan — great atmosphere, and great coffee to match! It's good for a day you want to quietly relax with a cup of coffee, and also good for a day you want to meet friends or family and share dessert together. If you like a calm, monotone café vibe, you'll definitely love it~
