Cilantro on chicken rice at Yeouido restaurant Jeongyun Kitchen
In short
Jeongyun Kitchen is an Asian home-style chicken restaurant in the Gongjak Apartment shopping arcade, right outside Yeouinaru Station Exit 1 in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. A couple shared the Singapore chicken rice half-and-half (15,000 won) and the char siu chicken rice (16,000 won), using cilantro and onion marinade to reset the richness between bites. For a filling but light lunch before or after shopping at The Hyundai Seoul, Jeongyun Kitchen is a good fit.

Yeouido is one of the three big office-worker districts, and I end up there often because of The Hyundai.

I went for a good meal near the Gongjak Apartment commercial building, a spot people often visit for lunch before The Hyundai, haha.
It's called Jeongyun Kitchen. It's right behind The Hyundai Seoul so it's great for lunch, and it's also right in front of Yeouinaru Station Exit 1, so it works well as a meeting spot too :)

What does Jeongyun Kitchen serve?
Jeongyun Kitchen mainly sells chicken dishes. It's an Asian home-style chicken house, and they use domestic Korean chicken, rice, and vegetables to make a healthy meal :)

There were quite a few menu options for lunch — Singapore chicken rice, char siu chicken rice, and red curry chicken rice seemed to be Jeongyun Kitchen's main dishes.

The vibe is cute and cozy, and thanks to the comfortable interior, sitting down felt like visiting a friend's house — it put me in a good mood.

It's known as a go-to chicken spot in Yeouido, so if you like chicken more than red meat, you'll like everything on the menu!

My wife loves chicken too, so before we even went she was busy looking up the menu and blog posts, haha.

What I ordered was char siu chicken rice and a Singapore chicken rice half-and-half. If you like trying a bit of everything, ordering half-and-half like I did lets you enjoy a variety of Jeongyun Kitchen's lunch menu in one go.

This is the Singapore half-and-half we ordered at Jeongyun Kitchen in Yeouido! I guess this is how it's served in Singaporean home cooking~ It's a place I'd love to visit someday, and until then I'm easing that longing at Jeongyun Kitchen, haha.

The Singapore chicken was especially delicious to me!

This chicken was crispy on the outside and moist inside, well cooked with a great aroma and tender meat.

Adding a bit of cilantro, which I love, brings out a totally different flavor, so you can enjoy the chicken in different ways.

When it starts getting a bit rich, popping an onion marinade resets your palate, so you can keep eating endlessly~

The broth tasted a bit like a light miso soup, so if you like eating light, the whole meal is nicely balanced and satisfying.

The rice had a bit more stickiness than regular Korean rice — I think it's called aromatic rice!! It felt exotic, like something you'd eat in Southeast Asia, haha.
The word 'fluffy' really fits — the Singapore-style chicken and rice paired really well together.

What my wife ordered for lunch was the 'Char Siu Chicken Rice.'

The color of the char siu chicken is gorgeous, hahaha. The seasoning is just the right salty-sweet with an appetizing look, so I thought this dish must be Jeongyun Kitchen's crowd-pleaser that everyone, young or old, would love.

It's tasty on its own, and the savory seasoning pairs really well with the rice! This would go great with beer too,,,, hahaha.

Topping it with a bit of fragrant vegetables adds color and finally completes a delicious bite~

If you like a bit of spice, dipping it in this sauce gives you a whole different flavor to enjoy.

How was it as a lunch before shopping at The Hyundai Seoul?
Since it's high in protein and easy to digest, it seems like a popular lunch choice for Yeouido office workers in particular.

I also had a filling meal and went straight into shopping at The Hyundai, and it digested quickly — overall it felt like a healthy meal!
Need protein for your workouts?! If you prefer chicken dishes that are healthy yet light, Jeongyun Kitchen is a good choice~
