Gwangalli sashimi lunch for two with Faker's autograph: Geumrang

Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch (금랑횟집 광안리본점) is a Gwangalli local favorite where you can eat a generous sashimi spread while looking at Gwangalli beach and the Gwangan Bridge. I went for lunch on a Gwangalli day out with my husband, and it was our second visit. This time we sat at a window seat and had the Lunch Special Spread.

Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch: location, parking and how to get there

Geumrang is a sashimi restaurant (hoetjip) on the 6th floor of Marine Rich, right in front of Millak Waterside Park. It is open daily from 11:30 to 22:30 all year round, and it takes reservations and offers private rooms, group seating, baby chairs and takeout. Easy to spot, right?

There is a big public parking lot at the Waterside Park right in front, and 2 hours of parking is covered, which is handy~ We took public transport that day, though. It's only 10 minutes from Centum and bus 210 made it easy.

Celebrity autographs at the entrance, now including Faker's

When you step out of the elevator, a row of celebrity signatures lines the entrance. Since this was our second visit, Faker's signature, which wasn't there before, jumped right out at me. "Oh, Faker came here too?" My husband and I stood there looking at them for a good while haha

It's listed in both the Blue Ribbon guide and Busan's Taste, so it felt like a Gwangalli local favorite with many longtime regulars, not just tourists.

The window seats are definitely Geumrang's big plus. From my seat I had a wide view of Gwangalli beach, and from where my husband sat you could even see the Gwangan Bridge, so we kept looking out the window while eating 🙂 On the 6th floor the view is wide open, and in the daytime the color of the sea is vivid. If you want an ocean-view sashimi restaurant in Gwangalli, I'd reserve a window seat in advance.

Besides regular tables, there are private rooms and group seating. While we ate lunch, a group of mothers was having a gathering at one of the group tables, and the sight of everyone around a table piled with food felt just like a family reunion or a friends' club meeting.

Geumrang Hoetjip menu and Lunch Special for 2 price

Geumrang's menu is not just assorted sashimi. There are set spreads like the Sea Spread, Gwangan Spread and Waterside Spread, plus assorted and special assorted sashimi, mulhoe (cold spicy raw fish soup), hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl) and lunch specials, so there's quite a range. We wanted to try lots of dishes at once, so we ordered the Lunch Special Spread for 2 (₩120,000).

The Lunch Special Spread comes with a wide range: seafood like boiled octopus, sea squirt and sea cucumber, then mulhoe, assorted sashimi, fried rockfish in sweet-and-sour sauce, tempura, roe rice and spicy fish stew.

Not a course: the whole spread arrives at once

When we ate it, the Lunch Special Spread didn't come out a little at a time like a course. It was set out all at once, and the table was so full it was seriously generous.

Is the Lunch Special for 2 enough food for two people?

I heard the main sashimi comes to about 48 pieces, so I was excited. The dishes kept coming and the table filled right up. For two people the portion is generous. I even wondered if it would have been better with three of us.

It wasn't just sashimi and seafood nonstop. I liked that warm dishes like the fried rockfish in sweet-and-sour sauce and the tempura were mixed in. Looking at the menu, even a small assorted sashimi plate is over ₩100,000, so ordering items one by one adds up fast.

For ₩120,000 you get sashimi, seafood, mulhoe, warm dishes, roe rice and spicy stew all in one go, so for the two of us, who wanted to try a bit of everything, it actually felt like good value.

From here on, the table next to us was getting their food too...! Wow.

How the sashimi at Geumrang Hoetjip tastes

What can I say about how the sashimi looked? It was thick-cut and the texture when you chew was so good. Soft, varied, and plenty of it.

Visiting in the daytime, the atmosphere of eating a sashimi spread while looking at the bright Gwangalli sea and the Gwangan Bridge was lovely too.

With everything from the lunch special to mulhoe and hoedeopbap, it's an easy place to choose a menu if you're looking for a Gwangalli lunch spot and want proper Busan-style sashimi and seafood.

Boiled octopus that melts in your mouth

Octopus that melts in your mouth.. It's really hard to boil octopus just right, so I thought, a place that's popular with locals really is different..

Sweet-and-sour fried rockfish we both loved

This is the fried rockfish in sweet-and-sour sauce (tangsuyuk-style) that both my husband and I were impressed by. Crispy outside, moist inside, with tangsuyuk sauce, it was a treat I've never had anywhere else.

Teriyaki salmon and sweet pumpkin tempura

The teriyaki sauce on the salmon was so my style that I finished it all in a flash. And the tempura: I thought it was squid tempura, but it had sweet pumpkin inside, so it was sweet and even more impressive.

Finishing with spicy fish stew and fish roe rice

And of course the finish is spicy fish stew and roe rice! You have to end with carbs~ Spicy, nutty, but I was really so full that I couldn't finish it all.. what a shame

Second visit to Geumrang Hoetjip: would we go back?

We remembered the Gwangan Bridge view and the generous table from our first visit, so we came back to Geumrang a second time. This time too we sat by the window looking at the sea and ate the Lunch Special Spread until we were stuffed. If you want to enjoy an ocean view and a sashimi spread together in Gwangalli, this is a Gwangalli restaurant you'll find yourself craving again 😇
