Uiwang yakiniku window seats, seasoned short rib: Yakiniku Pungyeong

In short

Yakiniku Pungyeong is a charcoal-grilled short rib restaurant in an alley off Botdeul 2-gil in Uiwang, Gyeonggi. With a window seat booked ahead, we grilled three cuts over charcoal — snowflake short rib, skirt steak and seasoned short rib — and Yakiniku Pungyeong sent out a tomato and Shine Muscat cheese canape, melon on the house, and a no-lose prize draw that ended with a raw beef and gamtae (seaweed) rice ball. Between the Japanese-style interior and the breezy window table, Yakiniku Pungyeong suits dates, family dinners and work get-togethers alike.

Today I'm bringing you a story about a great-vibe yakiniku spot near Indeogwon! This time I visited Yakiniku Pungyeong (야끼니꾸풍경), a charcoal short rib specialty restaurant. Turns out it's popular not just for dates but for family dinners and work get-togethers too — the place was packed with customers!

How to walk there from Indeogwon Station

Yakiniku Pungyeong sits a bit inside an alley near Indeogwon Station. It's about a 12-minute walk from the station, so I'd really recommend driving! Parking is available right in front, with room for about 8 cars :)

Since it's tucked into an alley, I figured there wouldn't be many people, but when I got there the place was packed with customers!

Japanese-style interior and the window seats

As soon as I walked in, I noticed the Japanese-style decor :) True to a yakiniku specialty restaurant, the space is done up to feel distinctly Japanese, so eating there almost felt like being in Japan haha.

I'd made a reservation beforehand and was seated by the window! That was honestly one of my favorite parts of the day — the view outside was wide open and pretty, and a cool breeze kept drifting in. Loved it!!

We ordered three things that day: snowflake short rib, skirt steak, and seasoned short rib! There are also set menus that pair with junmai or Hwayo soju, so if you're drinking, that might be worth checking out :)

Side dishes and the complimentary tomato

Basic banchan setting at Yakiniku Pungyeong
Pickled gungchae and pickled peppers among the side dishes

The basic table setting was neat and tidy from the start. We got pickled sides good for pairing with meat — pickled gungchae, yeolmu (young radish greens), and pickled peppers. Of those, the pickled peppers were my favorite! They went so well with the meat that I refilled them a good three times lol.

A complimentary plate of tomatoes

While we waited for the meat, staff brought out a complimentary plate of tomatoes! Eating the refreshing tomato first was a great way to whet the appetite haha.

Grilling the three cuts over charcoal

After a short wait, our ordered meats were laid out on the table one by one — check out that look!! The color of the meat alone looked amazing, and everything looked so delicious!!!

Lit charcoal grill

And true to a yakiniku restaurant, the charcoal fire was seriously strong lol 🔥

Skirt steak with nothing but salt

First up was the skirt steak! I grilled it just enough and dipped it lightly in salt only, and the meaty aroma really came through. Eating it without sauce let me fully taste the meat's own flavor, haha.

How marbled is the snowflake short rib?

Next was the snowflake short rib! True to its name, the meat had gorgeous marbling running through it, so it looked amazing even before cooking. I grilled it lightly over the charcoal, and it melted in my mouth — so tender!!!!

Seasoned short rib was the best of the three

And then the one I enjoyed the most — seasoned short rib! Eating the marinated meat gave a totally different flavor experience... I'm usually a fan of seasoned meat anyway, so among the three, the seasoned short rib was definitely the most delicious to me, haha.

View outside from the window seat with meat on the table

Looking out at the view while grilling meat piece by piece over the charcoal really felt like sitting in a great-vibe yakiniku restaurant on a trip to Japan... ♥️

Shine Muscat cheese canape and melon on the house

They kept bringing complimentary bites throughout the meal, lol. This time it was a small canape with cheese and Shine Muscat grapes on a cracker, plus melon! The cheese was tasty and the Shine Muscat was sweet, making for a great little bite-sized dessert. The melon was also really sweet and delicious!

The no-lose prize draw and the raw beef rice ball

The no-lose nostalgic grab game board

Just as we were about to leave after the meal, there was a fun little event — a nostalgic grab game! And since it's a no-lose game, my friend and I each gave it a try haha. We landed 5th place, but the prize was a raw beef and gim tak (dried laver) rice ball, so we were happy!

Raw beef and gim tak rice ball won from the grab game

We were already pretty full when we tried it, but wow... it was genuinely delicious! The fresh raw beef and the aroma of the gim tak went so well together, and eating it as a rice ball made it even better! Ending the meal with a fun grab game and a tasty rice ball was such a nice way to wrap things up :)

Is Yakiniku Pungyeong worth a visit?

Today I visited Yakiniku Pungyeong near Indeogwon, where you can enjoy charcoal-grilled short rib. I tried the skirt steak, snowflake short rib, and seasoned short rib evenly, and each had its own distinct charm, so it never got boring.

The Japanese-style interior left a strong impression, and the window seat was hands-down my favorite part! You could feel the heat from the charcoal, but a cool breeze came through the window along with a nice view outside, making for a relaxed meal. The staff were kind too, and they kept the complimentary extras coming — tomato, canape, melon — which made the whole experience satisfying :)

If you're near Indeogwon, Poil-dong, or Baegun Lake looking for a great-vibe beef restaurant, this is a solid pick for a date, family dinner, or work get-together 🐹💛
