Sinnonhyeon bakery gift for a Jeju friend: 8 Gangnam Sand, Bakerist
In short
Bakerist Brown is a large three-floor bakery café between Sinnonhyeon and Gangnam stations in Gangnam, Seoul. On an autumn afternoon at 1:30pm, the writer tried all 8 flavors of Bakerist Brown's newly launched Gangnam Sand sandwich cookies with the best-selling salt bread, an egg tart and a black sesame latte, then gave the leftover Gangnam Sand to a friend visiting from Jeju. With a butter cookie base and fillings that aren't too sweet, Gangnam Sand is a dessert gift from Gangnam worth recommending.

With a spacious, clean interior, it's perfect for dates or group gatherings. The newly launched Gangnam Sand is a sand cookie with filling between two cookies, available in 8 flavors, and comes in pretty packaging — I'd recommend it as a Gangnam dessert gift.

Bakerist Brown near Sinnonhyeon Station, a three-story red brick building
I visited around 1:30pm after lunch on a beautiful autumn day. The red brick building stands out even from far away. Bakerist, the bakery café near Sinnonhyeon Station, is a large three-story café, and true to its status as a Gangnam Station hotspot, there were a lot of people there.

The 8 flavors and prices of Gangnam Sand
On the wall was a banner for the newly launched Gangnam Sand. There are 8 flavors total — matcha, chocolate, Earl Grey, caramel, butter, berry, pumpkin, and black sesame — priced at ₩2,400–2,500 each.

The bakery display and showcase at the entrance
Walking into the store, the bakery display greets you first. Baked cookies, salt bread, pastries — they all looked delicious, leading to a happy dilemma of what to choose.

The showcase has pavlova and cakes. Since it's autumn season, a sweet corn cheesecake was newly released.

There's also a drink menu board. They have brunch items like French toast and soup, too.

Comparing all the flavors of Gangnam Sand
This time I tried every single flavor of Gangnam Sand. It's a sand cookie with filling in a butter cookie, which I love. The flavors are varied and it's a dessert with few dislikers, so it's perfect for gifting.
The 8 varieties of Gangnam Sand are Berry Blossom, Sweet Pumpkin Jack, Golden Hour, Black Grain, Lychee Ganache, London Fog, Green Forest, and Peanut Butter. The pumpkin one was delicious with a hint of yellow cheese flavor, and the berry one was nicely refreshing. The Lychee Ganache has a rich chocolate taste — if you like things sweet, you'll definitely love it, haha.

Seating atmosphere on the basement, 1st, and 2nd floors
Bakerist, the bakery near Sinnonhyeon Station, is a large café spread across three floors — from left, that's the basement, 1st floor, and 2nd floor. It's much more spacious than the photos show, but there were so many customers I couldn't take many pictures. You'll find people working solo on laptops, foreign visitors, couples on dates, and groups gathering — a real mix.

The salt bread, egg tart, and black sesame latte combo
I picked the 8 Gangnam Sand flavors along with Bakerist's best-selling menu items — salt bread and egg tart. If the basics are good, the other items usually are too, so I decided to try them today and share, haha.

For a drink, I got the black sesame latte. This is also a new menu item, and the combo of nutty black sesame cream with bitter espresso and milk was absolutely the best.

First up, the salt bread. Crispy outside, moist inside — a textbook salt bread. The butter cave inside was properly formed. The salty flavor and nutty butter taste were a fantastic combination.

The salt bread is tasty on its own, but dipping it in the black sesame cream made it even better. The bread-plus-cream combo really can't be underestimated.

Let me try the egg tart too. It looked small but was really substantial — a pastry packed full of egg filling. This one also paired perfectly with coffee.

The 8 Gangnam Sand flavors gifted to a friend from Jeju
Lastly, let me introduce Gangnam Sand. The photo above is the Berry Blossom flavor, with a refreshing berry taste. I'm a sweets lover who usually goes for chocolate or butter flavors, but Bakerist's Gangnam Sand made me appreciate the refreshing flavors even more.

The 8 Gangnam Sand flavors were packaged neatly. I gave them as a gift and shared them with a friend who came up from Jeju, and they definitely lived up to the price. The base is a nutty butter cookie, and the cheese, berry, matcha, and chocolate flavors are rich and feel quite premium. The filling isn't too sweet either, so if you're looking for a dessert gift near Gangnam Station, this would be a great choice.

That wraps up my visit to Bakerist Brown, the bakery near Sinnonhyeon Station. With a wide range of breads and desserts and a European-feeling interior, I'd recommend it as a place worth visiting in Gangnam. The newly launched 8 flavors of Gangnam Sand were especially impressive. If you're looking for an elegant dessert gift, give it a try.
