Seoul Forest coffee shop with 3 soft serves and iced coffee: Mellows

These days the weather is so hot that everyone seems to be struggling with where to go on weekends. So I headed out to Seongsu again after a while. I remembered an ice cream café near Seoul Forest that I'd seen often on social media, and went straight there without hesitation. I love finding good dessert spots, so I showed up with high expectations.

Where is Mellows and how do you get there from Ttukseom Station?

Mellows is located at 7 Wangsimni-ro 10-gil, 1st floor, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, just a few minutes' walk from the subway exit. The location is really convenient for public transit. Parking around Seongsu is famously tough on weekends, so I went by subway, and it wasn't hard to find at all — just a few minutes from the station exit.

The alley around the café had a quiet, atmospheric feel, and walking through it gave me that relaxed weekend feeling. The café itself stood out from a distance thanks to its cozy exterior and clean, atmospheric interior, so there was no trouble finding it.

The three soft serve flavors ordered at Mellows

Mellows makes its soft serve with Sangha Farm milk. We ordered a well-rounded spread of three: matcha, peanut butter, and mango. The menu lineup was so varied that we spent ages deciding — in the end we chose these three so we could try a bit of everything.

What the matcha ice cream tastes like

The matcha ice cream had a bitter yet deep, distinctive matcha flavor that filled the mouth. Rather than artificial sweetness, it had the nutty, smooth base of Sangha Farm milk, good-quality matcha powder, and crunchy granola on top — I kept going back for more.

Peanut butter and mango ice cream at Mellows

The one I was most looking forward to was the peanut butter ice cream, and it was truly excellent — smooth milk ice cream paired with nutty, thick peanut butter. The sweet-and-salty balance was perfect, so anyone who likes peanut butter would love it. The mango ice cream, meanwhile, did a great job of refreshing the palate with its bright, sweet, true-to-fruit flavor.

Honestly, with this many ice cream flavors, you'd expect at least one to disappoint, but each had such a clear personality that it was fun to work through them all. Tasting them in person, I could immediately understand why the overall quality has made this place so popular.

How were the iced americano and iced vanilla latte?

We also ordered coffee at Mellows — an iced americano and an iced vanilla latte. I'd originally planned to just have ice cream and head to another café, but seeing how much care the owner clearly put into the ingredients, I decided to try the coffee too. Sure enough, the beans were clearly high quality and it was delicious. Not too acidic, clean, with a deep chocolatey note — a perfect match for the ice cream.

Final verdict and tips for visiting Mellows

Sitting in a cozy shop on a quiet alley, sipping coffee made from fragrant beans alongside soft serve full of milky aroma — it felt like a whole week of commuting stress and fatigue melted away with the sweet dessert. Total healing 😆
