Anyang pork galbi restaurant with no weekend break time: Sannae Sutbul
In short
Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch is a Korean pork rib (Handon) restaurant near Bakdal Market in Bakdal-dong, Anyang, Gyeonggi. On a Saturday afternoon after an exam, the writer brought her parents for charcoal-grilled Korean pork galbi with added king oyster mushrooms, a bowl of rice and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup), refilling banchan freely at the self-serve bar. Because Sannae Sutbul Galbi skips its break time on weekends and holidays, it is an easy place to time a family lunch.

A Saturday lunch in Bakdal-dong, Anyang with my parents
On Saturday, September 19, I finished my computer literacy exam at Geumjeong Station at 1pm, and to reward myself for the hard work, I headed to Anyang with my parents for a good meal. Since it was a family outing, I chose Sannae Sutbul Galbi Bakdal Branch, a place near Bakdal Market known for its pork galbi (ribs).

The moment I stepped inside, the warm, calm wood-toned interior instantly put me at ease.

True to its name 'Sannae' (meaning 'inside the mountain'), the space had a relaxed, cozy atmosphere that made me really glad I'd brought my parents along.

What comes with the Korean pork galbi at Sannae Sutbul Galbi
The restaurant's signature dish is Korean pork galbi, made with a recipe passed down from Sannae-myeon in Gyeongju. There was no need to think twice — we ordered the main pork dish along with some rice dishes. As soon as we ordered, the table filled up with a neat and generous spread of side dishes.

The cabbage salad that came as a basic side dish was wonderfully crisp, perfect for whetting the appetite before the meal.

The shredded scallion side dish was a bit strongly seasoned on its own, but paired with the charcoal-grilled meat it hit just the right balance — an amazing combination.

Beyond that, there was lettuce, perilla leaves, and peppers, plus garlic, ssamjang (dipping sauce), wasabi, and baek-kimchi (white kimchi) — a generous lineup.

There's a self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant where you can freely top up on onions and side dishes without hesitation, which made the meal even more satisfying.

Charcoal-grilled galbi, flipped every 15 seconds
Soon after, a staff member quickly brought out a hot charcoal grill and set the pan on top. Warm heat from the charcoal rose up.

The main dish, Korean pork, arrived beautifully plated with fresh king oyster mushrooms. A sign at the table gave a tip: to keep the meat from burning due to the seasoning, flip it carefully every 15 seconds.

The mushrooms, grilled to a golden brown, had such great aroma and texture that we ended up ordering more king oyster mushrooms to grill.

Finishing with rice and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup)
You can't have grilled meat without rice, so we ordered a bowl right away, piling the smoky, charcoal-scented meat on top of the glossy white rice for a big bite. The sweetness of the rice and the seasoned flavor of the meat blended so well that I couldn't stop eating.

It felt like too soon to stop, so we ordered a cool mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodle soup) to share with my parents. The icy, clean broth washed away the richness of the meat, and the chewy noodles paired perfectly with it.

Finally, I placed a well-grilled piece of meat with wasabi and garlic on a fresh lettuce leaf, wrapped it up into a big bite, and it filled my mouth with rich flavor — total satisfaction.

Picking up a glossy, shiny piece of meat and popping it in my mouth, I could feel the moist, tender texture right away.

After finishing the meal, we ended with a sweet nurungji (scorched rice) candy waiting at the counter and left feeling good. From the friendly staff to the cozy wood-toned atmosphere and the deep flavor of the Korean pork along with the neat side dishes, it was a perfectly satisfying meal in every way.
