Guro bar for late-night dessert and a Suntory highball: Monthly Beer

My wife and I went on a date at Monthly Beer in Guro again today, for dessert and a drink after dinner. My mother-in-law watched the kids so we could go, so I'm really grateful for the day.

It's located on Guro Digital's Kkalkkal Street! People say the economy is tough these days, but Guro was still crowded, with lots of young people around.

Kkalkkal Street is famously impossible to park on — it's packed tight with shops — but Monthly Beer Guro has a spacious lot of its own, which is a big plus for after-work dinners or dates!

A clean, tidy entrance. The wide parking lot is on the left, and the bar sits on the first floor of the building right next to it. Outside, there are banners for various food and drinks.

Here are Monthly Beer Guro's hours. Friday and Saturday run until 4am, two hours longer than other days. Hoegaarden is ₩3,900, and guests entering before 7pm get ₩7,000 off. With perks like these, how could you not visit? We picked this place because of the Hoegaarden and were ready to drink a lot once we got in!

What's on the menu at Monthly Beer Guro, and what are the group tables like?

Here's the menu on offer. From pizza and pasta good for a full meal, to chicken and desserts, the lineup works well for a first round of food and drinks or a second round of snacks and beer! We'd already eaten dinner elsewhere, so we came for dessert and beer haha 😁

Spacious seating. Group tables are available too, great for work dinners. The lighting and interior aren't too old-fashioned, so it looks easy for younger people to walk in without hesitation.

You order through a kiosk, and there's a huge variety of food. Still, everything's split into categories, so we could easily find what we liked without getting confused. I ordered two desserts: the cream cheese persimmon rolls and the plum bingsu.

Hoegaarden for 3,900 won and the free snacks

Even when you come for dessert, you can't skip the drinks. With prices this high everywhere these days, Hoegaarden at ₩3,900 is a steal, right? My wife and I each ordered a bottle. I wanted draft beer, but I felt like I was about to burst 😱

The basic snacks at Monthly Beer Guro! Jjanggu crackers, chicken drumstick chips, and kkwabaegi twists come as the complimentary side snacks. Even full, we still had room for a few light crackers with our Hoegaarden!

🍺 Hoegaarden bottle Price ₩3,900 Super cheap for a bottle of Hoegaarden. It had been a while since I'd had it, and the fruity aroma was still alive — really delicious. This price is genuinely surprising these days. Plenty of places charge over ₩4,000 just for soju, so an imported beer at this price makes no sense (in a good way). The value is so good it'd be great for a group work dinner in Guro too.

Cream cheese dried persimmon rolls and plum bingsu

🍊 Cream cheese-stuffed dried persimmon (gotgam) rolls ₩19,900 I'd had these two years ago and it's been hard to find places selling them lately, so when I saw Monthly Beer had them, I ordered right away. Chewy dried persimmon wrapped around thick cream cheese — a combination that can't fail — and wrapping it in seaweed on top made the sweet-and-salty balance perfect. The kind of dish that keeps going down even when you're full!

Chug some Hoegaarden, then wrap a bite of the cream cheese persimmon in seaweed. Frozen cold, it's almost like ice cream — whoever invented this dish deserves an award.

🍑 Plum bingsu (shaved ice) ₩13,900 We also ordered the tangy-sweet plum bingsu, and my wife loved the sour-sweet balance. Sweet sherbet on top, tart fresh plum, cool shaved ice, and plum syrup — plum flavor from start to finish! It took a bit of time to come out since the plum was sliced fresh, but it was well worth it. Even full, we kept eating, and before we knew it our beer was gone too — so we tried a highball!

Finishing the night with an 8,000-won Suntory highball

🥃 Suntory highball ₩8,000 Beer felt like too much and we weren't quite done drinking, so we ordered a Suntory highball. Tangy and sweet with a bitter finish. The alcohol level wasn't too strong or too weak — just right. It quietly gets you a bit tipsy, so we ended the night on the highball.

Monthly Beer near Guro Digital Complex Station has parking and cheap drinks, making it a great bar for both group work dinners and dates. It also serves full meals, so if you have plans near Guro, I'd recommend it!!!
