I visited U Art Hair Hongdae to tone my hair down to a cool-tone brown, because it had turned reddish and the color had faded in patches. The salon felt bright yet calm. I expected it to be quiet on a weekday morning, but there were a few more customers than I thought! It opens early, so a morning visit works well.

The waiting area has snacks and a soft sofa, so you can wait comfortably.

My hair before the treatment and the color consultation

Before the treatment, my color had faded in patches and the ends were damaged, and U Art Hair Hongdae started with a consultation using a color chart. Even in the photo you can see the patchy fading, so it didn't look clean overall. The damage got worse toward the bottom, so the ends looked really dry 🥲 They showed me the color chart, compared my current hair color with the color I wanted, and recommended a shade that would suit me!

After the consultation, they kindly showed me a drink menu, and I picked a cold green tea! They even put cute pretzels and snacks on a tray for me, so my mouth was never bored during the whole treatment 〰️

How the tone-down dye went

The tone-down dye at U Art Hair Hongdae was applied carefully in sections, and before starting they checked whether my scalp is sensitive. Then the tone-down dye began! My hair was patchy and damaged, so I was worried, but they applied the color really carefully section by section. They asked first whether my scalp tends to be sensitive, and said that if it is, they can apply the dye without touching the scalp. Explaining things like that up front made me trust them even more!

Above all, I was surprised by how fast their hands were. Even though it moved quickly, the thoroughness stayed the same, so I got excited about the result. The treatment didn't feel long, which I also loved! I could see why the reviews are good haha

How long did the blow-dry volume last?

The root volume they created with the blow-dry after dyeing lasted until that evening. After shampooing, I looked in the mirror and my face already looked brighter..🤭 After my hair was completely dry, they blow-dried it too, and they built up the volume really carefully! My root volume usually falls flat quickly, but that day it was still there in the evening. The waves went in naturally too, so my hair looked fuller and the whole look got so much prettier🤍

The cool-tone brown tone-down result

With the cool-tone brown tone-down, the patchy red was tidied up and the color came out calm and even. Once the blow-dry was finished beautifully, the uneven reddish tones were gone, and my hair turned into a much cleaner, classier, calm color! It came out exactly the way I wanted, so I was happy.

Overall the color came out even, and I was happy with it. Even though it's toned down, it doesn't feel heavy; if anything it makes my skin tone look brighter, which I liked even more🤍 The dye result was good, but they also finished the styling beautifully at the end, so I left in a great mood.
