Inside Gohobi Katsu: counter seats and the open kitchen

The interior was clean and tidy. The wood-toned decor and warm lighting come together to give off that cozy, distinctive feel of a Japanese katsu place. The seating is set up as dachi-style counter seats that make efficient use of the space~ When taking a seat, you fill in from the innermost seat first, one by one.

There's also a tip for enjoying the food. At Gohobi Katsu, everything is cooked to order right after you order, so you get to enjoy properly hot tonkatsu.

Since it's an open kitchen, you can watch the cooking process too. The kitchen was managed so cleanly that it really gave me confidence in the place.

What we ordered at Gohobi Katsu: cheese katsu and Mixed Platter A

Finally, today's stars arrived — the whole mozzarella cheese katsu along with Mixed Platter A's loin cutlet and tenderloin cutlet~ Getting to try cheese katsu, loin katsu, and tenderloin katsu all at once was really great haha.

There were various sauces set out on the table so you could season things to your taste. In particular, the apple-carrot sauce paired perfectly with the salad.

Mixed Platter A: loin and tenderloin cutlet, 18,000 won

Mixed Platter A with loin cutlet and tenderloin cutlet, ₩18,000. The loin katsu with its vivid texture and the tender-looking tenderloin katsu — honestly, just looking at the cross-section of the cutlet, it looks gorgeous. I tried it right away and wow.. it's genuinely delicious. The moment it hits your mouth, the outside is crispy while the meat seems to melt away. The chewy, rich meaty flavor characteristic of loin meets the savoriness of the fat layer, and the umami with every bite is no joke. I fully approve this as a top tonkatsu spot near Suwon Station.

Whole mozzarella cheese katsu, 15,000 won: how does it taste?

Whole mozzarella cheese katsu, ₩15,000. Inside a big chunk of tonkatsu, soft mozzarella cheese is packed in without a single gap. I took a bite and the cheese stretched on and on without breaking haha. The savory, soft flavor of the cheese blends harmoniously with the light, clean meat. Since the cheese is packed in so thick it could easily get greasy, but eating it together with the wasabi and the house sauce served alongside cut the richness down enough that I could enjoy it to the last bite without getting tired of it.
