Bangi-dong sashimi restaurant set with roe stew: Ojingeo Seonsuchon
In short
Ojingeo Seonsuchon (오징어선수촌) is a live-fish sashimi restaurant in the Bangi-dong Food Alley in Songpa, Seoul, offering a 75,000 won set of sashimi, a fried dish and a stew. After work, the writer and a friend ordered the set with flatfish sashimi, fried squid and fish roe stew and enjoyed three rounds at one table: glossy flatfish, crisp Japanese-style tempura and a stew packed with roe all hit the mark. For a real sashimi restaurant in Bangi-dong rather than a bar serving catering-grade snacks, the Ojingeo Seonsuchon set is good value.

I couldn't decide where to meet a friend after work, so we ended up at Ojingeo Seonsuchon (오징어선수촌) in Bangi-dong, a triple-station area on Lines 2, 8 and 9. Here's my review of this Bangi-dong sashimi restaurant, where a sashimi + fried dish + stew set is great value. Let's go!
Where is Ojingeo Seonsuchon, and what are the hours?
Ojingeo Seonsuchon is a 10-minute walk from Exit 3 of Mongchontoseong Station (Line 8), Exit 10 of Jamsil Station (Line 2) and Exit 2 of Songpanaru Station (Line 9). It sits right in the middle of the Bangi-dong Food Alley.

- Last order 01:30
- No break time
Can you park at Ojingeo Seonsuchon?
You'll need to park at a nearby paid public car park. The Bangi-dong public car park is close by.
What's on the menu besides squid?
You can order à la carte, and there are several set menus too. The name means "squid athletes' village," but besides squid sashimi they also serve seasonal fish. (In winter it's famous for yellowtail, too!)

There's a fish tank out front, as a proper Bangi-dong sashimi restaurant should have. If you want a real sashimi place and not an izakaya, this is it!

What are the interior and seating like? Good for a group dinner?
The inside is bigger than I expected. There's group seating at the back, so it looks good for a company dinner. (Naver reservations are available too.)

It was full when I went, so I couldn't sit there, but drinking at the open-ceiling window seats would feel like an outdoor drinking spot. It's getting too hot for the real thing now, so enjoying that vibe under the air conditioning sounds great!

The restrooms are indoors too (separate for men and women). Whether the restroom is inside matters when I pick a bar. That's me, haha!

Ojingeo Seonsuchon receipt review event
The receipt review event is pretty generous, so I recommend checking it and joining in if you visit. You can pick one of the following.
- Sliced abalone and sea squirt
- Corn salad
- Ramen noodles
- Sujebi (hand-pulled dough flakes) noodles
- A drink
- Tofu

What's in the ₩75,000 live-fish sashimi + stew + fried dish set?
Live-fish sashimi + stew + fried dish, ₩75,000
The basic side dishes have the classic feel of a Bangi-dong sashimi restaurant.
- Seaweed salad
- Aged kimchi
- Soft tofu
- Cabbage salad
- Tomato
- Quail eggs
- Lettuce wraps
- Chili peppers
- Garlic
- Corn salad

The sashimi + stew + fried dish set is ₩75,000. I thought about ordering à la carte, but since this was dinner and drinks in one, I went with the set. Sashimi for round one, fried food for round two, stew for round three: three rounds at one table!
Fried dish: squid or shrimp, pick one
You can choose fried squid or fried shrimp, and since this is Ojingeo Seonsuchon, I went with squid. They also gave us fried sweet pumpkin. The portion was pretty big.

It wasn't soggy at all. It was Japanese-style tempura with a crisp coating, and with a soju-and-beer bomb it's a perfect match, just click, click.

Sashimi: flatfish, rockfish or salmon, pick one
For the set sashimi I chose flatfish (gwangeo), the basic of basics. I heard dipping flatfish in salt is trendy these days, so I tried it, hmm... but I prefer the classic.

Lots of bars in Bangi-dong use catering-grade snacks, but look at the quality of the sashimi here... it's a genuinely real sashimi restaurant. It's glossy and melts in your mouth, and you can feel the quality. Next time I have to come for the squid sashimi.

Stew: spicy fish stew, roe stew, squid stew or clam stew, pick one
It's a sashimi set, so I assumed it would be spicy fish stew, but Ojingeo Seonsuchon has several kinds of stew to choose from!

I was craving a refreshing roe stew (altang) for the first time in a while, so I ordered it. See all that roe? It's packed with roe and pleasantly spicy, a perfect finishing dish to pair with soju.

Is Ojingeo Seonsuchon worth recommending in Bangi-dong?
If you're looking for a real sashimi restaurant in Bangi-dong, I highly recommend Ojingeo Seonsuchon! The sashimi quality is good, and with the set menu you can do rounds one, two and three right here. Next time I have to come for the squid sashimi.
