I stopped by Baekok Yongsan, a great lunch spot near Yongsan Station and Sinyongsan Station. The pork gomtang (pork bone soup) was really appealing—generous meat and a clean broth—making it one of my favorite gomtang restaurants in the Yongsan area for lunch!

Not only was the food delicious, it was pretty to look at too, and the restaurant had such a great vibe with really friendly staff—I was very satisfied overall. Here's my honest review of Baekok Yongsan for anyone looking for a good Korean restaurant near Sinyongsan :)
Where is Baekok Yongsan, and how do parking and corkage work?

Baekok Yongsan is about a 9-minute walk from Sinyongsan Station, and a lot of people come here for lunch in the neighborhood.

Free parking and free corkage are big draws at this Korean restaurant near Sinyongsan. They sell a variety of traditional liquors in-store, and since corkage is free, it's a great place to bring your own drink too. Beyond the soup menu, there's also a solid lineup of anju (drinking snacks). *Free parking is available at the Yongsan Tax Office after 5pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.
Inside Baekok Yongsan: 1st floor, 2nd floor and group seating

Baekok Yongsan has two floors—the first floor has a cozy, calm mood, while the second floor feels bright and open thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows. There's also separate reserved and group seating tucked in the back. I visited at an odd time, around 3pm on a weekend, and the second floor was still packed with customers, making it hard to get clear photos. That's when I realized—this place really is a genuine local favorite, haha.

Tasting pork gomtang, spicy gomtang and cold pork at Baekok Yongsan

The basic side dishes are kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and mushrooms. I really appreciated that they were cut into bite-sized pieces.
The soup dishes at Baekok Yongsan are perfect for a hearty lunch near Sinyongsan, and the friendly staff brought everything out quickly.

Pork gomtang, 11,000 won
The pork gomtang comes with the rice already mixed in at the bottom of the bowl. I was surprised by how much meat you get for the price, and the generous portion of rice made it even more satisfying! The broth was really clean, and honestly, it's a great date spot too—one of my favorite Korean soup restaurants near Sinyongsan.

The meat topping was genuinely generous for the price, and so tender and soft—it really melted in my mouth.

Spicy yeolgomtang, 12,000 won — how spicy is it?
The spicy gomtang is the base pork gomtang with a spicy, tangy sauce and cheongyang chili peppers added. You can mix in the sauce to your own taste, and honestly, it's barely spicy at all?! The heat level doesn't overwhelm the flavor, making it a great choice if you want something spicy but comforting. If you like it really spicy, I'd recommend adding extra cheongyang chili rather than more sauce.

Pork cheek cold pork with toha-jeot
The cold pork (naengjeyuk) is made from pork cheek meat cooked until chewy, and I ordered a plate to try. Unlike the meat in the gomtang, the chewy texture here was really appealing. They served it with saeu-jeot (fermented freshwater shrimp) on the side, and putting it on top of the pork was absolute heaven—it had me craving makgeolli, honestly.
Is Baekok Yongsan worth a visit?

The friend I went with was enjoying the food so much they said, "I wish this place existed in my neighborhood too." This kind of food quality at this price in Yongsan? That's genuinely hard to find these days. If you're after a Korean restaurant in Yongsan with free corkage, drinks, and parking—and a great lunch spot near Sinyongsan—I recommend Baekok Yongsan!
