Busan restaurant near Busan Station for bibim milmyeon: Yeongdong
In short
Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap is a restaurant in Dong-gu, Busan, serving milmyeon and pork soup. We ordered a large bibim milmyeon, mul milmyeon, and handmade dumplings, and the boldly seasoned bibim milmyeon was especially my kind of thing. Verdict: a great shared meal for companions with different milmyeon preferences.

When you travel to Busan, choosing what to eat is surprisingly hard, right!? One person says, “We came to Busan, so we have to have dwaeji gukbap (pork soup)!” while another says, “No, we have to have milmyeon!” … We were in exactly that situation, but Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap (영동밀면&돼지국밥), which we visited this time, sells both milmyeon and pork soup just as its name suggests, so it solved that dilemma all at once!!!

Finding Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap near Busan Station and the wait
There is a place with the same Yeongdong Milmyeon name at the entrance to a nearby alley, but it is a different place, so you need to head farther into the alley.

We arrived at 11:30 and there was no wait. The restaurant is spacious all the way to the back, but it was completely full of people.

Milmyeon and dumplings ordered at the table kiosk
You can order and pay at the kiosk at your table. They sell both gukbap and milmyeon, so we debated what to get, then ordered a large bibim milmyeon ₩9,000, mul milmyeon ₩8,000, handmade dumplings ₩7,000, and Cass beer.

After ordering, the basic garnishes and warm broth arrived first. The broth was not just ordinary broth—it had a lightly spicy flavor, which was interesting. It was nice to have a cup each before the milmyeon arrived.

As you would expect from a place where you can eat gukbap and milmyeon together, the top tier has vinegar and mustard for milmyeon, while the bottom has salted shrimp, dadegi (spicy seasoning paste), and pepper for gukbap, haha.

Everything we ordered is here~

Sweet and spicy large bibim milmyeon
First, the large bibim milmyeon I ordered! The seasoning was evenly worked into the noodles, and it was so good once mixed upㅜㅜ! You know those pleasantly chewy milmyeon noodles, right..: They went so well with the sweet-and-spicy sauce. Ordering the large size also gave us quite a generous portion, so it seems like a good choice if you want a filling meal!

Just how refreshing was the mul milmyeon?
🍜 Mul milmyeon I also tried a bite of the mul milmyeon we ordered together. It had chewy milmyeon noodles in a refreshing broth, with a mild flavor that made it just right for a hot day in Busan.

While the bibim milmyeon had a definite hit of seasoning, the mul milmyeon was all about the cool, clean flavor of the broth! So if two people visit, I recommend ordering one mul milmyeon + one bibim milmyeon and sharing 😊 But bibim milmyeon was more to my taste, haha. If you like bold flavors, I recommend the bibim milmyeon.

Warm handmade dumplings with milmyeon
The milmyeon-and-dumplings combination is hard to get wrong! Having warm dumplings alongside the milmyeon made the meal even more filling.

In particular, having a dumpling or two while eating bibim milmyeon softened the spiciness, so they went really well together~

We also ate it topped with the cucumber and radish kimchi that came with it!! They serve the cucumber separately! Such a great restaurant for the cucumber-haters’ club,, haha.

Visit at 11:30 to avoid the wait
By the time we came out, a line had formed so quickly… If you do not want to wait, I recommend going at 11:30, haha.
If you are wondering whether to eat dwaeji gukbap or milmyeon on a Busan trip, the best thing was being able to take care of both menus in one place. Even if you visit with companions who have different tastes like us, there is no need to fight over what to order, haha. I am on team milmyeon, and personally, the bibim milmyeon with its nicely balanced tangy and spicy seasoning suited my taste better! The large portion was generous and filling, too. The mul milmyeon was cool and clean, making it nice to alternate with the bibim milmyeon, and ordering the handmade dumplings as well made for a pretty hearty meal~ A good place in Busan for a group where some people want milmyeon and others want dwaeji gukbap! If I visit again, I think I would personally order the bibim milmyeon again. 🍜
