Gwangalli salmon restaurant with shiitake aglio olio: Salmon Brothers
In short
Salmon Brothers is a salmon restaurant on the second floor at 49 Gwangan-ro in Gwangalli, Suyeong, Busan. A salmon-obsessed regular ordered the raw salmon and seared salmon tataki half-and-half sushi (17,000 won), aglio olio with shiitake mushrooms (15,000 won) and a yuzu highball (8,000 won), and was especially pleased with the giant raw salmon sushi. The aglio olio noodles were slightly soggy and slippery, but Salmon Brothers is a Gwangalli salmon restaurant where you can enjoy salmon, pasta and a highball in one sitting.

Salmon Brothers in Gwangalli: exterior and dining room

The restaurant sits inside a Gwangalli alley and has a clean, tidy look from the outside.

Finding it wasn't hard, and the location is nice for a date.

Inside, the whole place felt cozy and clean.

A casual, cute little bear is the Salmon Brothers signature mark! It's a comfortable space for an easy meal.
The tables have a nice vibe too, so families seem to visit a lot. There were quite a few foreign guests as well!! 🧸
Maybe because I went during a bright daytime hour, the atmosphere looked even better, and it's a lovely place to spend time over food.

The lighting is super strong, so food photos come out great no matter what you shoot haha.
What we ordered at Salmon Brothers, with prices

- ✔️ Raw salmon / salmon tataki half-and-half sushi ₩17,000
- ✔️ Aglio olio ₩15,000
- ✔️ Yuzu highball ₩8,000
This is what I ordered.
Raw salmon vs. salmon tataki half-and-half sushi: which is better?
The raw salmon/salmon tataki half-and-half sushi (₩17,000) at Salmon Brothers is a must-order!! It's fun to compare the two styles. If I had to pick just one, I'd go with the raw salmon sushi.

Last year I also came alone and finished a whole half-and-half sushi plate with a highball haha.

But if I have to choose just one... I'll take the raw salmon sushi haha.

Raw salmon sushi at Salmon Brothers: moist, chewy and giant-sized
The raw salmon sushi looked delicious, and the first thing I noticed was the soft texture of the salmon. The salmon's signature richness, moistness and chewiness all came through, and it was a clean, easy-to-eat dish.
It may not look like much in the photo, but it's seriously huge. Eat it in one bite and it fills your whole mouth, which is super satisfying haha.

Salmon tataki sushi: torch-seared with a smoky aroma
Next up, the salmon tataki half of the plate! It looks sweet just by sight~~ It's seared more with a torch than the raw salmon, so a smoky flavor spreads through your mouth, and it's light with the texture of the flesh still intact.
Getting both raw salmon and tataki together means you taste more variety than with a single item. If the raw salmon is like a bouncy baby bottom, the tataki has its surface lightly cooked, adding a subtle richness.
Salmon Brothers shiitake aglio olio: great mushrooms, slightly soggy noodles
The aglio olio at Salmon Brothers (₩15,000) had noodles that were well seasoned, and the shiitake mushrooms were especially good. However, the noodles were a bit overcooked and slippery, which was a letdown.

Aglio olio, a clean pasta that goes well with the salmon dishes.

Among pastas I like fettuccine, and aglio olio can easily turn out bland, but the noodles here were well seasoned.

The garlic aroma rises gently and the flavor isn't overpowering, so it was nice to alternate with the sushi.

Eating only salmon might leave you wanting more, but ordering pasta alongside made the meal more filling. The shiitake especially was insanely good.. so delicious!!
If you're looking for a pasta spot in Gwangalli, I'd recommend the pasta here too. The one thing I didn't love: maybe too much pasta water got mixed in, because the noodles felt a bit overcooked and slippery!
Salmon Brothers yuzu highball: a good match for salmon
The yuzu highball at Salmon Brothers (₩8,000) has a fresh citrusy yuzu aroma and went well with the food.

With light dishes like salmon, it cleaned up my palate nicely, and it set a good dinner mood too.
Verdict: who is Salmon Brothers in Gwangalli for?
Salmon Brothers is a Western-style restaurant in Gwangalli where you can enjoy salmon dishes, pasta and highballs all at once. With plenty of salmon options, like the raw salmon sushi and salmon tataki half-and-half, it felt especially right for salmon lovers.
If you're looking for a restaurant with a good atmosphere in Gwangalli, a salmon spot, or a pasta spot, enjoy a variety of dishes at Salmon Brothers 🤍
