On weekday lunchtimes it's hard to get in because of the long waits from nearby government complex officials and office workers, but this time I visited on a holiday evening and got to enjoy a relaxed meal. Let me walk you through the value set with hearty beef noodle soup and fried rice, the popular pork bone rice noodle soup, and the pleasant walk to the Bangchukcheon music fountain afterward. 🍃

Where is Thanon55 in Sejong, and where do you park?

Thanon55 Sejong branch is located at 1F, units 109 and 110, Best Western Plus Hotel, 7 Doum1-ro, Eojin-dong, Sejong, South Korea. 🚗 It's on the first floor of the hotel directly across from the south side of the Sejong Government Complex, making it very easy and intuitive to find.

AK Plaza and a waterside park are nearby, and it's only an 8-minute drive from Sejong Lake Park, making it a perfect stop for a date or family outing. If you're driving, you can use the underground parking at Best Western Plus Hotel, so I was able to park without any stress and head right in.

What the Thanon55 dining room in Eojin-dong looks like

The interior of Thanon55 Sejong branch has an open, double-height layout, and stepping inside I was greeted by an exotic yet cozy atmosphere. 💡

On weekdays this Eojin-dong spot is usually packed with office workers from the nearby government complex, but visiting on a holiday, it was much calmer and I could focus on the meal. The tables are spaced generously, and the stylish Thai-style decor and lighting made it a comfortable space for anyone, young or old, to enjoy Thai food.

Beef noodle soup (nuea tun) and shrimp fried rice set, 18,000 won

What I ordered at Thanon55 Sejong branch was the beef noodle soup (nuea tun) and shrimp fried rice set for 18,000 won. Looking at the menu, I wanted both the deep-broth noodle soup and the savory fried rice, and I spent a long time deciding which to order! For anyone like me stuck between two dishes, this set was the perfect solution, so I ordered it right away 🍛.

By the way, 'nuea tun' in the menu name means 'slow-braised tender beef' in Thai — it's a real, representative beef noodle soup from Thailand itself!

Unlike the Vietnamese style with thin, clear slices of meat, this dish had thick, tender chunks of beef slow-braised whole, generously piled in a rich broth — plenty hearty enough for a satisfying lunch.

Shrimp fried rice topped with a runny fried egg

Just as appealing as the noodle soup, the shrimp fried rice arrived in a pretty bowl topped with a savory soft-fried egg. It was fun popping the golden yolk with a spoon and mixing it through the savory rice grains 🍳!

A subtle, umami ketchup aroma perked up the flavor, and the finely chopped carrots and fresh ingredients gave a distinctive crunch with every bite. It's mild rather than intense, with a savory, soft flavor, so I'd strongly recommend it for families visiting with young children too.

At a reasonable price, being able to enjoy both the deep-broth beef noodle soup and the crunchy shrimp fried rice made this a value set that exceeded my expectations.

Another must-try signature dish at Thanon55 is the Thai-style pork bone rice noodle soup for 13,000 won 🥩. The bowl was piled generously with meat slow-simmered until it fell apart easily with just a light pull of the chopsticks — remarkably tender!

The spicy, rich broth paired with chewy rice noodles gave it a familiar feel, almost like eating gamjatang (Korean pork bone stew) with rice noodles thrown in — a unique dish that even people unfamiliar with rice noodle soup could enjoy without hesitation. I've already reordered this one 3–4 times, it's my favorite 💕

After dinner: a walk to the Bangchukcheon music fountain

After finishing my meal at Thanon55, instead of heading straight home, I walked over to nearby Bangchukcheon stream for a leisurely stroll 🌿. Just as I arrived, the refreshing singing fountain was in full, lively motion!

The music and the tempo of the fountain jets weren't perfectly in sync, but seeing small groups of people gathered to watch the fountain spray coolly and enjoy some downtime was quite heartwarming. I'd highly recommend finishing a good meal at Thanon55 with a light stroll along Bangchukcheon to end the day.
