Buggy's Gwanpyeong (버기즈 관평) is a handmade burger restaurant on Tekeunojungang-ro in Gwanpyeong-dong, Yuseong, Daejeon. Two people shared a single Godfather burger, a mushroom burger set and a tortilla-wrapped chicken snack. The Godfather stood out for its juiciness and well-matched ingredients, and the mushroom burger for its subtle mushroom aroma and cheese-packed patty. If you want a proper handmade burger near Daejeon Hyundai Outlet, Buggy's Gwanpyeong is a good choice.
Café The Corner is a roastery café in the Dodam-dong food alley in Sejong that roasts specialty green coffee beans in-store and has been a Blue Ribbon pick for 12 years in a row. After a Korean meal, I ordered the injeolmi snowflake bingsu (shaved milk ice with roasted soybean powder, 17,000 won) and an iced americano (3,800 won); the 100% milk snowflake ice, the nutty soybean powder and the rich, nutty house-roasted coffee paired well. Café The Corner is open until 1am and offers 4 hours of basement parking, making it an easy dessert café after a meal in Dodam-dong.
Bapkkot Hansang (밥꽃한상) is a Korean restaurant on the 3rd floor of the Sejong Machi building on Doum 8-ro in Sejong, close to Sejong Lake Park and the National Sejong Arboretum. On a weekend afternoon, two people shared the signature Bapkkot Special (₩25,000 per person), which arrived in two rounds: first a spread of dishes such as boiled pork (suyuk), chive pancake and seaweed-konjac-noodle japchae, then a meal course with tteokgalbi (grilled short rib patties), gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste sauce) and doenjang stew. The Bapkkot Special isn't a cheap light lunch, but it is good value for what you get and a satisfying choice for treating parents or a family meal out.
Italy Shabu Kalguksu Sejong Eojin Branch is a shabu-shabu and kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) Korean restaurant on the 3rd floor of Taehan Press Center in Eojin-dong, Sejong. On a chilly day the blogger ordered the signature 6-item shabu kalguksu (beef chuck eye, handmade dumplings, gamja ongsimi potato dumplings, vegetables and mushrooms, house-made kalguksu noodles and egg-vegetable porridge) and remembered the unlimited noodle refills and the kalguksu timer most. Italy Shabu Kalguksu is worth recommending for days when you want hot broth and plenty of noodles.
Olivus Compagno Sejong Boram Branch is an Italian restaurant near Sejong City Hall in Boram-dong, Sejong. We tried the signature potato soup, bacon cream pasta, and arugula potato pizza, with a high chair available for families. Verdict: a satisfying meal before a walk on the Geumgang Pedestrian Bridge.
