Sejong restaurant pick: Thanon55. I paid for every one of my 10+ visits myself, and it's a truly great Thai place.
What is Thanon55 in Sejong like?
Thanon55 is a Thai restaurant in Eojin-dong, Sejong, near the Sejong Government Complex. The rice noodle soup and curries are really good, so I've been 10+ times for dates and family meals. Here's a review of my favorite dishes!
Thanon55 is in the Best Western Plus Hotel building, a 3-minute walk from Terarosa and AK Plaza!

Thanon55 exterior and how to find it
Thanon55 is easy to find: it's the yellow building next to Pascucci. Doesn't the front already give off Thai restaurant vibes?

Thanon55 seating: hall, floor seating and private room
Inside, Thanon55 has an exotic feel, with a big hall, floor seating and even a private room. The interior is exotic too!
This is the whole hall. It's roomy with lots of seats, so it feels open.
There's one cozy floor-seating table like this. If you squeeze in well, maybe even 6 people could fit?
There's a private room too, so it'd be great for a team dinner!
The self-serve bar had pickled ginger, pickled radish (danmuji), baby tableware and baby chairs.

The noodle soup and curry came out right after we ordered. Would you believe I've eaten this curry more than 10 times!
How does Thanon55's beef rice noodle soup taste?
Thanon55's beef noodle soup is a classic bowl with a clear beef-based broth and generous brisket (chadol) and flank (yangji). Let's start with the noodles.
You can see bean sprouts and green onion, and quite a lot of sliced garlic too.
The broth soaks into the noodles so the seasoning is just right, and the rice noodles are soft.
There's quite a lot of meat, so it's filling. There weren't many bean sprouts, but with this much meat and noodles it's really delicious.
Seriously delicious... The spice aroma isn't strong, and it tastes like something most Koreans would enjoy. The lime note isn't overpowering either, and it's tastier than other Thai specialty restaurants. I don't know what the difference is, but Thanon55's noodle soup is number one for me!
What is Thanon55's moo tod curry?
Thanon55's moo tod curry comes with thinly sliced fried pork and a coconut-scented, egg-based curry. Here it is. My beloved moo tod curry.
This curry is a total hit. It's sweet and nutty with great savory depth, and the fluffy bits of egg are really delicious.
Eaten with rice, it's heaven... Please just trust me and try it once.
The pork is fried thin and topped with sliced garlic. It's fried crisp, chewy and firm. Since it's thin, the amount of meat isn't huge, but the pork flavor is strong and really tasty, and the curry alone is enough for two bowls of rice. (If you want more meat, I recommend the L size.)
Thanon55's signature pickled chili peppers
These pickled chili peppers are also a Thanon55 signature. The jalapeño heat is toned down and a tangy note is added, so it even smells a bit like myeongi-namul (pickled wild greens), and it went really well with the curry.
Order extra rice with the moo tod curry
After finishing our rice, we ordered another bowl. The curry is sweet and salty, so even a little on top makes the rice go down easily.
