I often visit the Songdo Hyundai Outlet (nicknamed Songhyeona) because it's great for shopping. But after shopping, you always want at least one really good meal, right? I heard there's a great sushi place right by the outlet, so I went to check it out. Today I'm introducing Sushi Doku The Songdo, a Songdo, Incheon favorite.
Sushi Doku The Songdo: location, parking and waiting
Sushi Doku The Songdo is in Onesta Mall in Songdo, and it's connected to the Songdo Hyundai Outlet, so it's a convenient stop after shopping. You can park in the Onesta Mall underground lot, and if you eat at Sushi Doku they give you 2 hours of parking support.

Unless you go right at opening, you'll need to wait at lunchtime. You can register for the wait through Catch Table.
Inside Sushi Doku The Songdo
The interior feels like a sushi restaurant in Japan, which made it feel like I was traveling, and I loved that. The soft, not-too-bright lighting gives it a classy mood. Taste matters, but atmosphere matters too!

They also had high chairs and tea you can drink after your meal. You can feel Sushi Doku's care in even these little details.

Sushi Doku The Songdo menu
As a Japanese restaurant centered on sushi, the menu is mostly sushi, but it isn't just plain sushi: they offer a variety of sets. I liked that you can choose by price to suit your taste. There are also kids' dishes like pork cutlet (donkatsu), so it seems fine for families too.

The ₩25,900 Premium Sushi Special Set: how was it?
I ordered the "Premium Sushi Special Set" (품격있는 명품 스시 특정식), which comes with 10 pieces of sushi, for ₩25,900.

The moment it arrived I was amazed at how pretty it looked, and then I was amazed again because nothing on the tray fell short in taste. With set menus, one item is often neglected, but Sushi Doku had none of that.

A soy sauce brush, great even if you're clumsy with chopsticks
Sushi Doku The Songdo has a brush for putting soy sauce on the sushi. I've been to lots of Japanese restaurants, but this was my first time seeing one. It was perfect for me, since I'm not good with chopsticks. Brushing on the soy sauce meant the rice and the fish never came apart, so it was much easier to eat.
The sushi used salmon, shrimp, eel, tuna and more, and each piece of fish was fresh and melted in my mouth.

Salad, tempura, steamed egg and udon that come with the set
Besides the 10 pieces of sushi, the Premium Sushi Special Set comes with a salad, a bowl of udon, tempura and a pretty steamed egg. The 10 pieces already looked fresh and excellent, and the other dishes were top quality too. It felt like the textbook example of a sushi set.

The salad, refreshing alongside the sushi, was generous too.

The karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and shrimp tempura were crispy and delicious, and went well with the udon. Tempura on top of this one set! It seems like a great-value menu that fills you up as a full meal.

The pudding-like steamed egg (gyeran-jjim) came in a lovely bowl, which was nice just to look at. It was silky and seasoned just right, and I finished it in no time.

The udon broth was rich, with a delicious stock that was the highlight. The noodles were springy and didn't taste like a side at all. It was a great udon you could happily eat as a main.

Worth a meal after shopping at the Songdo Hyundai Outlet?
Sushi Doku The Songdo seems like just the right place to eat after a fun shopping trip at the Songdo Hyundai Outlet. The meal was convenient and tasty, so I'm happy to recommend it.
