Seokchon Lake udon spot for Sunday brunch: Haengbokhan Udon Gage
In short
Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch (행복한우동가게 석촌호수점) is a 24-hour udon and Korean snack-food restaurant on Samhaksa-ro in Songpa, Seoul, open every day of the year. For a Sunday brunch just after 11 a.m., the writer shared a jeyuk deopbap (spicy pork rice bowl, 10,500 won) and a gochu udon (pepper udon, 8,000 won), and the smoky pork paired well with the sharp broth spiced with Cheongyang chili. Verdict: Haengbokhan Udon Gage makes a good weekend route with a walk afterward to the character balloon on Seokchon Lake's west lake.

One Sunday morning I was craving something with a kick, so I went looking for a brunch spot and ended up at Haengbokhan Udon Gage (행복한우동가게), the 24-hour udon place by Seokchon Lake.
Location and opening hours of Haengbokhan Udon Gage Seokchon Lake Branch

It's at 90 Samhaksa-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul (1st floor), and it's open 24 hours, every day of the year. You can park in the spaces in front of the restaurant, and by public transit it's a 3–5 minute walk from Exit 2 of Seokchon Gobun Station on Line 9.
I went a little after 11 a.m. on the weekend, and a few tables were occupied by families. A good udon place by Seokchon Lake is great already, but being open 24 hours makes it even better. You can eat comfortably at awkward hours, and I think it's a solid choice for a good-value meal late at night too!
Inside the restaurant: is it OK with kids?

Haengbokhan Udon Gage, known as the 24-hour udon place at Seokchon Lake, felt spacious and pleasant inside. Maybe because it was weekend brunch time, I saw lots of families.

The mood seemed easy for families with kids too. It's decorated in wood tones, so it's comfortable to sit for a long time, and there's a restroom inside, which was handy.

This 24-hour udon spot by Seokchon Lake also has outdoor seating, so I bet it's lovely for a drink in spring or autumn.

you can get one free item: a honey tomato, a soft drink, soju or a beer.

We ordered the spicy pork rice bowl and the pepper udon.
Spicy pork rice bowl
I sprinkled seaweed flakes over the fluffy rice and mixed it all together, and it made a really filling meal!
The seasoning wasn't salty, just pleasantly spicy, so I kept going back for more.
The smoky wok flavor really came through, and the pork and vegetables were stir-fried generously in a spicy sauce.
Pepper udon
It comes topped with fried tofu and crown daisy, so a subtle aroma spreads as you eat.
The noodles were chewy and springy, and they looked great from the moment I lifted them with my chopsticks.

Sliced Cheongyang chili peppers are in the broth, so it was sharp and refreshing, exactly my kind of soup!
The spice level was just right and the broth was clean, so I think it would be perfect as a hangover cure too. It really is a happy udon shop (the name means "happy"). Hahaha

Ordering both and sharing was nice, because we got both the spicy, tangy side and the hearty side.
Takeout and parking

Every menu item can be taken out, so it's good for anyone who'd rather enjoy it at home. Udon, pork cutlet, rice bowls, all of it can be packed to go, so keep that in mind.

There's also parking in front of the shop, so no stress about where to leave the car! Public transit is convenient, but you can also drive here without worry.
Nearby: a walk to the Seokchon Lake balloon

Seokchon Lake is right nearby, so a lakeside walk after eating sounds really nice. Over on the Seo Lake (West Lake) side, a huge character balloon sits right there, and it was fun to look at.

With Lotte World Tower in the background, it seemed like a great photo spot too. Eat, stroll lightly, and see the balloon, and I think that makes a well-spent day.
Final thoughts

The biggest charm of Haengbokhan Udon Gage at Seokchon Lake is that it's open 24 hours, so you can go at early morning or late at night with no time limits. It's good for a weekend brunch, and you can drop in without a second thought when you're craving a late-night snack. Long live 24 hours! The value is good too, and I think I'll keep thinking about that spicy pork bowl and pepper udon combo.
