An Itaewon Korean restaurant recommendation for gatherings: Modam Itaewon
I went to a Korean food spot in Itaewon that's great for meeting up with friends, hosting a gathering, or even meeting the in-laws!
We had a family dinner for my parents' birthday, and it turned out to be such a satisfying spot for a family birthday gathering too!
Where is Modam Itaewon, and what about parking and hours?

Modam Itaewon is located on the 1st floor of the Mondrian Hotel. Since the Mondrian is right across the Han River, it's surprisingly accessible even from the Gangnam side, like Banpo. I came from the Express Bus Terminal that day, and it was only about 15 minutes by public transit — really close!
Once you enter the lobby of the Mondrian Hotel, just walk straight ahead and you'll find it easily.
Walk further in and you'll see Modam's door, which already has a distinctly Korean feel to it. It's so easy to find that it also works well as a meeting spot!
Inside Modam Itaewon: hall seats and private rooms
The interior of Modam Itaewon is really spacious! Both hall seating and private rooms could be reserved. It seemed great for small get-togethers as well as family gatherings of four or more.
With its upscale yet modern Korean-concept interior and a comfortable, clean atmosphere, it also seemed like a good place to host foreign guests for a proper Korean meal.
There are private rooms tucked throughout the restaurant, and they even have a separate course specifically for meeting-the-in-laws dinners, so I'd recommend it for that too. There seem to be various room types depending on party size, from 4 people up to 10 or more!

We visited on a weekday for dinner and sat in the hall.

With three of us, we ordered three set menus!
What comes in the appetizer course at Modam Itaewon?
First, appetizers came out, shared across all three set menus.
There were light salads to snack on, sweet-crispy mushroom gangjeong (candied fritters), and perilla oil noodles.
There was even individual bean porridge and ceviche — a really generous spread just for the appetizers!
Every single dish was beautifully plated, and my parents enjoyed it too. It was the kind of menu that works well for older diners.
The main sets, plus a seaweed soup that arrived by chance
Next came the actual set: the main dish, seasonal side dishes, and soup. We happened to be there for my parents' birthday, and by coincidence, seaweed soup (traditionally eaten on birthdays) showed up exactly at the right moment!

Deodeok gui and charcoal galbi set / ₩49,000. The main dish came out separately, so it was easy to share around the table. The soup and side dishes were all delicious.
Modam Itaewon's birthday dessert service, with no request made
Lastly, the part that really touched me: Modam's birthday service! We hadn't left any special message when booking, and we were just taking photos with the cake we'd brought — but staff came over first and asked if we'd like them to keep it for us. (Note: the cake is for photos only, not for eating there.)
Then when dessert came out after we'd finished the meal, they said they noticed it looked like a birthday and had prepared something — and brought out this beautifully set dessert...!! Apparently you're normally supposed to leave a note in advance for this, so if you're booking for a birthday gathering, I'd definitely recommend requesting it ahead of time.
From the space to the food to the service, everything about Modam at the Mondrian Hotel in Itaewon was satisfying! If you're looking for a Korean restaurant for a gathering in Itaewon, I really do recommend Modam, haha.
