Bangi-dong gukbap restaurant: four bowls compared, Boseung Hoegwan
In short
Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is a 24-hour gukbap (Korean soup with rice) restaurant near the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul, an 8-minute walk from Jamsil Station Exit 10. Four bowls — intestine, sundae (blood sausage), spicy sundae and pork jowl suyuk gukbap — were lined up on one table: the spicy sundae gukbap gets its heat from cheongyang chili rather than capsaicin, and the pork jowl melts in the mouth. With kkakdugi (radish kimchi) worth refilling several times, Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch is our top pick for sundaeguk near Jamsil and Seokchon Lake.

Today I'm bringing you a visit to Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, near the Bangi-dong food alley — perfect for when you want something hearty and satisfying. I love sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) and have eaten a lot of it around town, and I honestly think this is the number one sundaeguk spot near Jamsil and Seokchon Lake! It's become my go-to place... haha.
If you work near Jamsil Station or have plans there and are looking for a lunch spot, or if you're craving a hot bowl of soup for a hangover cure and searching for a good gukbap restaurant in Bangi-dong, this should be extra useful!

The storefront and how to get there from Jamsil Station

Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch has a clean, tidy sign that's easy to spot even from a distance. The location is so good it just catches your eye.
Near the entrance there's a standing signboard listing the full menu and prices, so you can check out what's on offer before even stepping inside — a nice, thoughtful touch. The exterior blends the warm, familiar feel of a classic gukbap restaurant with the clean look of a newer spot.
Inside Boseung Hoegwan: sofa seats, group tables and baby chairs

The spacious dining hall has everything from partitioned sofa booths to large tables for groups, with generous spacing between seats — it would work well for a Bangi-dong staff dinner or a group lunch.
Plenty of baby chairs are on hand too, so families with young kids can eat comfortably!

There's a sign explaining how to enjoy your gukbap best! Since the seasoning paste comes mixed into the soup by default, if you want to season it yourself, just pick the option when ordering to suit your taste.

Be sure to check if there's a Naver or Google review event running when you visit — you can get a free drink for participating!
The menu: meal sets, drinking dishes and summer cold noodles

The menu was really varied — from meal options (sundae gukbap, suyuk gukbap, pork jowl gukbap, intestine gukbap, and more) to drinking food (assorted boiled pork, gopchang jeongol hot pot, bone-in potato stew, and more).
Each table has a menu board you can browse plus a handy tablet ordering device with images, so ordering is easy. You just tap the gukbap you want on the tablet, choose options like whether to include dadaegi, and you're set — really convenient.

They also have cool noodle dishes for summer, so there's a good range of choices! I'll have to come back to try the summer specialty next time. The prices seemed reasonable too!
Ordering all four gukbap: intestine, sundae, spicy sundae, pork jowl
We went all out this time and ordered four main gukbap bowls based on everyone's preference: intestine gukbap, sundae gukbap, spicy sundae gukbap, and pork jowl gukbap. I thought the seasoning was just right, though some people might find it a bit salty! Since the seasoning paste is mixed into the soup, if you prefer things milder, I'd recommend scooping some dadaegi out before seasoning to taste.
The standard side dishes are crunchy kkakdugi, fresh geotjeori kimchi, and chives to add to the soup. The kkakdugi went so well with the gukbap — I lost count of how many times I refilled it. Chili, garlic, and ssamjang are available on request too.

Here's my rundown of each of the four main bowls.
Spicy sundae gukbap: how hot is the cheongyang chili heat?
This is the one to order on a day when you're craving something spicy and punchy, or when you need a hangover cure after drinking the night before! It comes topped with fragrant perilla powder, and once you stir it in, a spicy, nutty aroma fills the air. The heat isn't from capsaicin — it comes from cheongyang chili, so it's a deliciously spicy broth that's perfect for mixing with rice.

Intestine gukbap
If you're someone who loves gopchang (grilled intestines) or offal in general, this bowl won't disappoint. The intestines are loaded generously, so every spoonful comes up with plenty of meat. There's no trace of the usual gamey smell, and the more you chew, the more you notice the savory, chewy texture — really excellent haha.

Pork jowl suyuk gukbap
On a completely different level of tenderness from regular boiled pork! The chewy yet soft pork jowl is packed generously into the soup, making the broth even richer and more savory.

The meat just melts in your mouth, so if you're a meat lover, I really recommend trying this pork jowl gukbap among all the sundaeguk restaurants in Bangi-dong.
Sundae gukbap
This is basically the signature dish of Boseung Hoegwan — the classic sundae gukbap. Instead of plain sundae filled with just glass noodles, it comes with substantial, savory vegetable sundae balanced with tender boiled pork. The broth is so rich and deep that once you mix in a little dadaegi and sip the soup, warmth spreads through your whole body.

The real star: Boseung Hoegwan's kkakdugi
The most important factor in judging a good gukbap restaurant is really the kimchi, and at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch, the true star was this kkakdugi!
It's not overripe and mushy, nor underripe and crunchy in a bad way — it holds the perfect crisp texture. The tangy-sweet, refreshing seasoning pairs so well with the warm gukbap broth that you'll go through it endlessly.
Where do you park at Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch?
Parking space in front of the restaurant/building can be limited, so if you're driving, I'd recommend calling ahead to check, or using the nearby Bangi-dong public parking lot! Since it's close to the subway station, coming by public transit is the most convenient option.
Final thoughts on the four-bowl comparison
I highly recommend this spot to anyone who wants a satisfying, warm bowl of gukbap in a spacious, clean restaurant. If you're weighing options for a Jamsil Station lunch or looking for a Bangi-dong gukbap restaurant, don't hesitate — head over to Boseung Hoegwan Bangi Branch!
