Bakery café in Ulsan with blueberry cinnamon rolls: MUG

I visited MUG (카페 먹) in the Eonyang area of Ulsan. With its charred-wood interior and spacious outdoor area, I enjoyed both choosing bread and exploring the café. The blueberry cinnamon roll I shared with my parents was especially memorable.

Where is MUG, and is parking available?

The address is 90 Hyangsandagae-ro, Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan, South Korea (울산 울주군 상북면 향산다개로 90). Parking in front of the building made it convenient to visit by car. At the time of the original post, the café was open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., with takeout available and high chairs provided.

What is the charred-wood interior like?

I learned that MUG's charred-wood theme draws on the history of a major wildfire in the area. Knowing that background changed how I saw the space as I looked around.

The interior is arranged like a gallery, with exhibitions to browse. Its calm atmosphere stood out to me.

The ceilings are about 9 meters high, so the space felt open as soon as I walked in. Even with plenty of people around, it felt less cramped. Weekends do tend to be busy, though, so I'd recommend arriving early.

What breads are available, and what did I try?

There was a wide selection of baked goods, and even after looking through the whole display, I spent a while deciding.

Cinnamon rolls are the signature dessert. There were several varieties, including apple, blueberry and tiramisu, so I could choose a flavor that appealed to me.

Alongside the cinnamon rolls, there was pizza-ppang (pizza bread).

There were also sogeum-ppang (salt bread) and injeolmi (soybean-coated rice cake) rolls, adding to the choice.

When I visited around 3 p.m., some popular breads were unavailable, and more bread was being baked.

The blueberry cinnamon roll is the one I tried and would recommend. It had plenty of blueberry jam inside and was moderately sweet, so my parents enjoyed it too.

What are the views from the indoor and outdoor seats?

Indoors, the large windows looked out onto the surrounding natural scenery. Those views, together with the high ceilings, gave the space an open feel.

Mountains stretched out behind the outdoor seats. The outdoor area was spacious, and I thought it would be nice to spend some time out there in good weather. Dogs are reportedly welcome in the outdoor area too.

What events were mentioned in the original post?

A bubble event is reportedly held outdoors on weekends. I included this information based on other visitors' reviews; I didn't watch it myself.

There was also a notice saying that visitors could receive a lucky turtle gift by taking part in a review promotion.

At MUG, I enjoyed eating the bread and spending time looking at the indoor exhibitions and outdoor scenery. I thought it would be a pleasant place for a family outing or a date, with space to explore together.
